Yeah, I'm The Tim. How did the conversion go? I spent around 10 days on that fire way up in Northern California in Modoc County. That fire is done but now there's others burning in California that we've sent engines out to help but I'm not on them. I spent 20 days on 3 different wild fires this season, and who knows, maybe I'll go out on another one before the fire season ends.

It went great - you answered all my questions. I love your channel! Your videos on the transmission removal, front diff, and manual hubs conversions have helped me considerably when doing research in my PreRunner conversion project. The video and production quality is great, keep it up!

Thanks for your service, Tim. I feel like this state is always on damn fire, in fact there is a website: iscaliforniaonfire.com

Hey Tyler, that's great to hear our videos helped you out. My buddy Sean and I sometimes have get-togethers at my place where we usually do some wrenching on trucks but always eat good food and drink good beer. I know it might be weird to join a 4runner forum since you own a Tacoma, but on T4R.org, Sean started a Bay Area Meet-Up Thread and we announce the get-togethers there. Here's the link to the thread: If you subscribe to the thread, you'll know when new posts are made and one of them might be our next get-together.

We like our 1st Gen Tacoma Brothers so Y'all are welcome to join in with the festivities the next time we have a shindig at my place. Is there something equivalent on this forum for a Bay Area meet-up I could list a get-together on?

Guys thanks a bunch for all your replies. Timmah, awesome vids man.

Just wanted to give you all a quick update. The dealership gave me $1900 quote for the entire rear end with labor, which actually seems reasonable for a brand new rear end to me. They didn't tear the third and look at it, so no one knows what the axles look like, but they determined by the amount of play they find that the differential was pretty well gone.

They also gave me a laundry list of things I ought to have done but are less of a priority. Leaks, worn out bearings this sort of thing. Minor issues, but there are a number of them.

I don't know what I'll do now. For a truck this old and with so many issues, I think I'd prefer to sell it or give to charity for the tax write off.

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
Op, if the frame is still solid, there are a bunch of folks in my neck of the woods that would give you probably more than you paid for it.
