I like those wheels a lot. Keep me in mind! I prefer a thinner wheel especially with the 4cyl.

Luckily I'm working today so the rain hasn't crushed any plans. I might hit up Cabelas later. I was there Monday and they had done great deals on used rifles.

12.50's are a little wide... 255 / 285 have been compared for off road use a million times on this forum and there is no solid conclusion one way or the other.... so all I have to compare is looks...... I think 285s are the perfect look for our trucks... 255s look too skinny from looking dead on from the front or rear.

Since I'm a 4 cyl, as well, I like the idea of 255s, but the selection just isn't there. I wish there was something in between, like a 265 or 275. There just isn't though for a 17" rim, so I'll be going 285 when it is time for new tires.

I've got 16 inch off road wheels right now, with 245/75 on them. I wasn't necessarily looking to move up in rim size, but my lift kit is going on soon (I have been saying that for 2 years), and at that point I will need bigger tires.

I'm running 265/70 now and 275/70 is only half an inch taller. If I'm going to stay with a tire that's essentially the same size, I'd be better off staying with 265s as there is a better selection.

No reason you can't stay on a 16" rim. Check out if you've never seen it before. They've got some nice search functions. You can tell it what diameter tire you want, and it will show you all the brands/models/sizes that are in that size. It even converts the metric sizes into inch measurements, so you can compare the various sizes. You can also filter from that point by rim diameter and tire type. Once you know the specific size you want, you can search by that size and filter by type/brand/load/speed rating.
