The 2017 Tacoma i have has a wireless charger that i use with my phone, but I think they used some cheap Chinese qi charger because my phone gets hot and doesn't charge much. The wireless fast charger I have from Samsung in my house chargers quick and doesn't get as hot. My question is if anyone know of a video or post of someone replacing the cheap Chinese qi charger for Samsung fast charger. Thank you.

Correct. The Qi charger is nearly worthless. On the S8+ it just overheats within about 20 minutes and I'm lucky to get 5% charge in that time. Not sure there's an "easy" fix or replacement. It would be wildly popular if there was one. The qi charger makes a good burrito holder.

    None as of yet
the usb port in the dash is only a 1 amp port. you need your own 12v adapter to plug in to fast charge

Lurker here chiming in - I use a Dog & Bone brand iPhone 6s case that has a QI charging thingie that you can swap for extended battery. Every once in awhile the iPhone will flake out and go into some type of endless loop of charge, not charge, charge, not charge...etc.

Power cycling the iPhone when it gets in charge loop always seems to work.

Not the best solution but I have been pleased with the overall experience here....

Well now you guys make me worry about mine. I haven't ever had wireless charging, so I bought the little attachment on Amazon to make my Pixel XL wireless charger. I've only used it a couple of times, and when I do, it always rapid charges. I haven't been using it more, because I don't have another wireless charger, and my case makes it hard to take out the wireless charging attachment...

I wonder if it's as simple as removing the stuck charging coil and replacing it with the rapid charging coil.

@Atreyu do you have a link for that wireless charging case?

It will have to be re-wired as the fast charger requires a higher amperage. Even if you could hook it up to a higher amperage fuse, the wire gauge would likely be too thin and could present a fire hazard.

    charges an s7 galaxy fine.

Remeber if your trying to use bluwtooth and playing music it will likely not charge as your probably cosuming at a rate very close to what the chargers output is

Factory stuff so far. Mud flaps, tow package, weather mats, bed mat.
I'm using a Mophie wireless charger and extended battery case on an iPhone 6s+. Using the stock wireless charger while driving 3.5 hours with Bluetooth phone, Google Maps and playing iTunes music it does keep charging both the phone and the backup battery albeit at a much slower rate than the charger base that comes from Mophie with the case.
Yes it does get warmer. The slower rate means you won't pick up much charge on a 10-15 errand run but for a 40 minute commute it will add about 15-20%.
Bottom line is the OEM wireless charger is about half the speed of using the USB port. It's convenient but it should have been so much better.

It seems about the same as the S7 wireless charger i used when i was dating a girl, though it wasnt my charger so i didnt study it as much. Is there a possibility that its the Mophie not interacting with the Qi correctly? Also if your running all that stuff theres no way i would expect much of a ohone charge. I think in about a 45 minute ride it brought up my buddies S7 40%. I use the wire so ill have to try and use it more for feed back. the wireless charging has always been more of a gimmick in my eyes, its wireless but you cabt pick your phone up.... wtf?

It isn't a case, it is just the little attachment you need to make your phone wirelessly charge.

This is the case I use:

This is the charging dongle thing I bought:

something else to consider is the quality of this vs one built into a phone. I really don't know enough about them to tell you.

edit- so after reading this, the mophie case may not be as good as the s7 built in or the one posted from Amazon. Or its all the stuff you have open when trying to charge on the road vs what you have open when you charge at home

For 13 bucks, I think it works just fine. It even rapid charges, on compatible chargers. It isn't really a matter of which is better, as most phones don't have a built in wireless charger. Therefore, it is a matter of being able to use the charger in your Tacoma or not.

sure it does matter whats better if someone has the option of mophie or yours... they may want to make sure they are getting what works best... not all chargers are created equally and are as compatable.

Im not hating on your purchase it looks like you are having better luck than the guy using a mophie
