That was a near perfect day to have our meet/mod day (since I didn't mod, I only drooled on everyone else's truck). My thanks to Chris for hosting the day.
You guys have some sick trucks, I need to get my 5100's installed and my wheels and tires on then my LB will feel more at home, I felt like an x-runner there... no offense to the x-runner boys.

Sweet event and thanks to all who made it happen!

There he is... It was nice meeting you Saturday. If you were serious about doing some work or possibly teaching me to weld, I'd love to try to set something up with you.

Having experience with running shooting competitions and military ranges, I'm just gonna throw it out there that whoever is taking charge of this thing is going to have their hands full.

You combine a wide range of experience and ways of running ranges with a lot of guys showing up who've learned everything they know from Call of Duty and keeping it safe is going to take a lot of work.

I would agree with this fully. If we decide to seriously do this we should have a sit down before starting with proper safety instructions as if we're all newbies and similar rules to shooting ranges (stand behind this line when ready to fire.. yadda yadda)

Honestly I probably won't even go myself. I won't be relaxed. Having a firing line is great, but how do you handle people taking weapons from their vehicles to the line? Carrying loaded weapons? Keeping the weapon up and down range. Beginners have a tendency to violate this rule during manipulation (loading, clearing malfunctions, etc.), especially when they don't have a table to set the weapon on.

It's just a matter of having a casual environment with a bunch of inexperienced people around you that you don't know. Some people aren't the best trainees and when you bring out firearms around a lot of young guys, they all have to puff their chests out and act like experts, even the ones who don't know jack shit. At competitions we just send those folks home, but a TW meet would be a little different.

Add in the fact that you don't know everyone there, and even the ones you know you don't know that well, and theft becomes a concern.

Plus you'll have folks showing up without guns and I don't feel like giving away ammo or trying to set up a system to charge people (that's just not fun).

Unless you guys are just dirt shooting (trash, cans, and stuff), you're gonna have issues with people's target stands getting shot or steel targets getting shot with steel core or rifle ammunition at close range (ruining the expensive steel target).

Great ideas Chase. I do think we should meet before heading out and discuss all the safety precautions.

Regarding people showing up "hoping" to shoot other people's guns...That should not be allowed unless they have previously agreed-upon arrangement (like Ray and Amir).
