What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Measured both x cab and standard cab doors.

Both measure 45 3/8" at their widest point.

 

Thank you man. I was going off of the second gen doors that change size from one cab size to another. Man Toyota kept it simple on the first gens.

 

Does a 96 actually have anti lock brakes?

 

I don't think so. That I know of.

 

My 95 does not

 

all years including 95.5 had option of abs. mine has it.

A good first step to do as a vehicle owner or DIYer is to search for technical service bulletins (TSBs) for your particular vehicle make/model/engine/year. If a known TSB exists (as is the case for some Toyota vehicles), following the instructions in a bulletin can help you save time and money in diagnosing and repairing your issue.

Next, visually inspect all wiring and connectors that lead to the speed sensor. Look closely for any chafing, bare wires, broken wires, melted, or otherwise damaged areas. Repair as required. The location of the sensor depends on your vehicle. The sensor could be on the rear axle, transmission, or perhaps the wheel hub (brake) assembly.

If the wiring and connectors are OK, then check the voltage at the speed sensor. Again, the exact procedure will depend on your make and model of vehicle.

If everything looks OK, replace the sensor.

Finally installed replacement bug deflector from EGR. Noticed after I opened they sent me the HD version instead of the clear smoked color deflector.

Got a bunch of welding done today, it's going to be stronger than new guaranteed and should last a long time. Might even park it in the winter, it's a third vehicle for us so we don't need to drive it all year.

Now off to camp, drink some beer, light the sauna and take a swim.

Those UCA bolts are no joke... Also found out the PO of the grey truck replaced the LCA bushings with energy ones so IDK if I wanna go through with swapping to whiteline since the hard/stupid job of burning the old bushings out was already done.

 

Finally got around to rebuilding and mounting this winch i picked up, Xp 9.5.
Now Im figuring out where to mount my electronics. Im trying to avoid unecessary long power cables but also dont want to cut my grille to bitz.

 

Mount to your inner fender it's fine to have your power be that long and it'll save your solenoid box

 

Up near the booster you think? Id like to save the other side by the cruise control for a compressor. Im playing around and seeing what works
