I've only been at it for a few months and have yet to do a brisket...I enjoy all the ribs, chucks, and pulled pork. I'll do a brisket eventually but it'll be when I happen across one heavily discounted.

Thanks, it was devoured in no time. It was done on an electric with a A-MAZ-N dust tray. Some claim you can't get any good bark or a smoke ring on an electric, I guess mine doesn't know any better.

Get a Weber. That one will rust out quick and need to be replaced in a few years. The Weber will last forever. Watch the clearance right now. I can find 18.5 wsm smokers for $125-150 all day.

Another vote to up your limit for a Weber. That $200 WSM 22 is one hell of a deal. You will he kicking yourself in the ass a month from now once you realize what you passed up on.

@igno1tus , all this advice is spot on about do NOT get a cheapie smoker. You'll fight it all the way and quickly give up on the whole hobby. Use your limited funds to buy a good used from CL or even get lucky looking for clearance deals on new by using Brickseek or something. Hell, you can get a brand new Weber 22 grill for 100 bucks at any big box, and yes you can smoke everything on it, just need to have the coals to one side away from the meat. Not as easy as a dedicated smoker but way better than some cheap ass wannabe, plus it'll last you forever. Having said all that, if that 22 WSM was within 100 miles from me I'd snag it quick and I don't even need it. It's that good a deal.

It is brutal to have see pics like this and not have a piece.

I have a tri tip and one rack of St. Louis ribs queued for tomorrow.

Now that I think about it , I had a cheap gas grill that just never cooked right . I even got new burners for it and it always screwed up anything you put on it . I finally threw it out and bought a better one (which cooked awesome)

Broke my stall. Only a couple hours this time and no wrap! :bananadance:

I'm also letting the BBQ temp go, wide open on the vents.
