Out of curiosity, what exactly was faulty on yours? There have been some mention of needles sticking or jumpy, just wondering if that´s the case here, or something different.
    Also, welcome to TW.

Yes I believe those are the symptoms that have been reported before. Sorry to hear about your bad luck with your new truck. Maybe they'll get it fixed quicker. seems unusually very difficult to get Tacoma warranty parts these days

If a dealer really wants to repair it they take a unit that is there and remove the part needed to repair your vehicle,

We didn't do it often but certain times it was needed.

Get the customers car repaired and then on their way, leave the new unit in the back lot waiting for a warranty part.

Obviously dealer principles don't like this at all.

Sorry to hear your having this issue with your new purchase!

Look at the bright side they didn't give you a corolla as a loaner.

That "run of trucks" goes all the way back to the early 2016 models.

On the bright side, it is a simple fix and you don't really need the gauge cluster anyways :burnrubber:

Is this the "combination meter"? I had mine replaced due to intermittent trip odometer resets (not uncommon problem, of course dealer rep said he'd never heard of it ... I had printed out the TSB and gave it to him). Anyway, I was told it would be a while for the new part to come in since it would have to be programmed with my current mileage, but I could keep the truck, no concern about the odometer reading going up in the interim. But the new part showed up in 2 days. Just my experience, only last month.

I purchased my Tacoma this past February. I noticed after taking a road trip that the needles were sticking and jumpy, especially the rpm needle. So The beginning of august I took it into the service department for the first oil change and I mentioned to them about the cluster and they confirmed that the cluster was faulty. It took them almost 4 weeks to give me my truck back. The service manager said that it was a known problem with the tacomas and that he had 2 other trucks besides mine with the same problem. He said he could only imagine how many tacomas around the country have the same problem. Also mentioned that the manufacturer doesn't have the man power to keep up with the orders, that's why they take so long to fix. I was put into,a rental but they gave me a 2018 Camry. Drove it off the lot with 8 miles and returned it with 1300. Lol

So weird that mine came in two days. I guess I was lucky ... or they never actually replaced it :)

This is a case of the Tacoma's sales success being a detriment. When they are selling units at a pace that the factory has a hard time keeping up with, availability of certain parts can be an issue.

As for the dealer removing a part from an inventory vehicle, that isn't legal in this case. It would be a case of mileage tampering, don't blame the dealer. Shit happens, and parts come from suppliers. No vehicle is exempt from this possibility.

Apparently the facts are unimportant, the only thing that matters is that you feel slighted. Obviously Toyota should give you all your money back, a new truck of your choice and have the salesman shot. Do you understand that all manufacturers buy many of the components from vendors? That they are at the mercy of the vendor's ability to meet production demands? Yeah, it sucks that every once in a while we as spoiled American consumers are denied immediate gratification. You have a couple of options, drive it until the new part is available, trade it, or bitch endlessly about it.
