For comparison, this is what 255 80 R17s (same exact size tire as the 85 R16s just on a 17" wheel) with an OME lift (sans UCAs).
Only rubbed the mud flaps a little, which is why I removed them.

Thank you! They are the stock steelies off of an FJ ... I was able to pull them out of the boneyard behind my local tire store ... they were covered in cobwebs and leaves ... a little elbow grease and $180 got me six of them. $55/wheel to get powder-coated. Eventually there will be two full sized spares mounted vertically in my bed.

That looks fantastic. I've been considering going the FJ steelie route with 255s myself when funds allow.

Has anyone tried 255/85/r16 on a 3rd gen SR5? If so what did you do to make them fit?

I have a 17 limited and IIRC we have the same suspension so....they fit no rubbing. Just put them on today.

Like other have said it depends on your wheels, but I think any 16" TRD wheel will make t work from what I've researched.

This is the stock wheel on my stock suspension Sr5 4x4 where can I find the specs on it ? Would like run 255/85/16 or 235/85/16 if need be. I know I have different shocks then the OR but do I have different springs? I would like the speedometer to be accurate after upgrade,it was simply swapping speedo gears in my jeep but I'm clueless how to do it on a digital speedometer IMG_0367.jpg

The post above yours makes it seem like you should have some luck fitting the tires, unless the wheels cause problems.

There are speed doctor type things for digital but I've heard mixed things, and more on the negative side. I just wing or use a GPS app to track my speed, so I can't help much more there

so amazing that all you guys fit the 255 85 stock with no issues , I have an sr utility cab 4 cyl automatic 4x4 I had to go wit the low range off road 3/1 lift level kit with 1.5 inch wheel spacers , to fit my 255 85 16s on stock steel wheels , there must be a lot of different spring rates and shock set ups for these trucks just really wondering why Toyota has so many different setups even for the access cabs . I know there would be differences from 2 door to 4 door but from access cab to access cab should have to spring rates rite ? one rate for the 6 cylinder and one rate for the 4cylinder am I missing something or is my utility cab just a thrown together leftover parts truck made into whats called a utility package ? I love my truck a lot and very happy with it but I went thru allot to achieve were she sits now while you guys just mount and install??????????????????? very frustrating

Sorry that was a pain for you. I assume there are noticeable suspension differences between the SR's and the Off-road, otherwise people wouldn't bother buying the trim. I'm guessing that makes enough of a difference that we can just slap them on and go. What would be interesting to know is if anyone with an sr5 who had bought an OR suspension takeoff from the bst forum has been able to fit these. That would narrow down the cause alot

Almost got the cooper S/T but the cooper maxx had more reviews, more aggressive, and Weight difference really wasn't that much to make a huge difference in MPG...either way your gonna take a hit if anyone cares. Either one you should be happy tho.

I have those tires. I think the tread is a little more agressive than the pictures indicate. They make some noise, most noticeable on smoother roads. There is new paving on part of my route to work, and I can hear the difference in tire noise on that new section.

Does your truck have stock suspension? Did you turn the outlined white letters in?

Yes, they are mounted blackwall out. The suspension is completely stock. The passenger side has occasionally rubbed on the mudflap, at half-lock, hitting a steep driveway entrance. I also upgraded the spare tire, and while it fits in the stock location, it is tight. It sits rather close to the exhaust pipe, so I may put some heat shield there.
