    Stock.

I've got a manual 2016 DCSB in silver. Keeping it clean on the outside hasn't been hard. Its the interior that has taken a beating. Long hair white dog fur does not come out.

its up to the OP if he is willing to do what needs to be done for a 2017 truck.

The Access Cab looks better but I'm buying a Crew Cab for the extra interior space. And I'm getting a MT, not an AT. There's enough units at the dealers so that I can for once get exactly what I want.

Actually I have to do very little. Call the dealer, one day later they will have what I want in stock (swap from another dealer), one day later it's in my garage. There's plenty of units out there so I can get exactly what I want.

You have the same interior space in access cab, except you have stack things vertically.

Access Cabs do have better looks compared to the Double Cab but I have to admit the extra interior space is nice.

Always someone who wants a ride. Usually one of the kids. Should have bought a AC, gas bill would be lower. :)

I made the same swap last week and love it.
I purchased my 2016 AC auto last June, loved it with the exception to the quirky automatic.
I could deal with it, but I always complained and warned others looking to buy a new Tacoma that the auto likes to shift A LOT, often right when you don't want it to. Then of course the back seat isn't very large in the AC, and the lovely lady in my life happens to have a son, who liked to complain about the lack of space in the back of the truck...
Again, we could deal with it, that's why she has her car, and we only cram into the truck when necessary..

So a week ago a friend asked me to get a quote on a used 2016 Sport on our lot, which led to discussing the better deals on 17's, specifically a blue one with three pedals. an hour later I was in the finance office signing for my new 2017 Sport double cab with a manual trans. The gas mileage went down 2mpg average, but the engine feels stronger and more controlled. Overall, I got what I wanted and am very happy, again.

I even kept my SR5 grill and wheels/tires because I don't like the cheese grater grill and prefer the 16" wheels.
I swapped over all my suspension and lights, and gained a tonneau cover, mud flaps, and power sliding rear window for $25 more that I was paying.
Only gripe is the short bed..my bike does not fit in it, but I have a solution for that in the mail.

Call the dealer, tell them what you want, and they locate one, or order one for you. Not like your current truck doesn't still work, so use it until the right one arrives.

And silver does hide dirt very well, white will show it.
    Make the swap!

Go for it!! Two+ years back --during a period where I was having persistent issues with my knees-- I traded my 2010 AC 2.7L 5 spd for a 2015 AC 2.7L AT. Big mistake. Didn't care much for AT, in general, but what it did to the peppy 5 speed might be justified as being categorized as criminal. I tried to keep a game face and deny the obvious, but I knew it was not going to do in the long run. Long story, short: decided to replace it this past week. Went to dealer with a list of three TRD Sport MT Access Cabs that were available in the area. Did a lengthy test drive with a TRD Sport MT DCSB. I've always preferred the access cab style --looks, long bed, etc.--, but the practicality of the DC (as it pertains to my needs) won me over. More room for my grandchildren, an easily converted flat surface for my dog, a power operated rear sliding window, side windows that open, and easier access to the rear area (especially in a confined parking lot space). So, I am now the very happy owner of a 2017 TRD Sport MT DCSB in the color all trucks are meant to be --black :D.
Seriously, the 6spd is just plain smooth and fun to drive. And the DCSB is really practical.

May depend on your area and the kind and color of your dirt and dust. Also the shade of silver. I've had both silver and white (silver wasn't a Tacoma) and I believe the white hides the dirt and scratches a little better.
Both are good colors for it though.

I'm way past all the above. I'm picking up the new truck Tuesday. It's a 2017 Off Road Double Cab, manual transmission, and WHITE.

For accessories I will add the running boards in my first post, put on an Access Original tonneau cover, reuse my exhaust tip and bed mat (gonna cut down my 6 foot mat), and I'm also going to install the TRD grille. That should do it. Oh yea, swap my Garman dash mount GPS to the new truck. The Entune nav really sucks.

I have the TruXedo TruXport and have been very happy. For around $235 shipped it was a no brainer. I have only noticed minimal water in the bed on the back sides and have taken it completely on and off a few times with no problems. Paired with the bed mat the water seems to run under that and keep my gear dry in the back.

Can you elaborate on this? Nominally the AC cab is a foot shorter, but are you saying that with the thinner/lower back seats there is essentially the same volume? I have a DCSB and often wish I had a longer bed, and rarely carry passengers. So been thinking about the opposite swap. But we do fill the area behind the seats with stuff to keep secure and dry, so that space is always filled before we put stuff in the bed. Thanks.

Having owned both, there is more interior room in the DC.

Exactly. There isn't much difference in terms of colume. If you are using the back seats properly for cargo in a DC then you should be opening the seat cushion and folding the backrest. You end up with about the same much room except in an Access cab you are stacking stuff on the floor and higher, where as in a DC you can spread stuff out a little bit more and that's it.

Plus, the jump seats really aren't as bad as some people make them out to be. For short trips and average sized people they are perfectly usable as long as the front seats aren't moved back excessivley. I am 5'11 and nearly 6'. In my normal seating configuration I can still fit in the rear jump seat and feel fine

He's talking about passenger room, and there is a more room in the DC then AC obviously. I get what you are saying in terms of cargo, and essentially you are correct.

OP the only way you are gonna get what you want is to go to the dealer. If they have nothing 100 mile dealer trade isn't bad at all. We do tons of dealer trades around that distance. Also if your looking to buy soon is the time. The 18s will be rolling in. And if you're fine with a '17 there will be incentives. Best tip working for a autogroup I can give you is end of the month/last day is the best time to buy. Really want to try and get the best deal? If they have or can get a truck in time their fiscal year ends 10/31. Yes Halloween. So if a dealer is desperate to hit some big year end number or neck and neck with competing dealers this is the best day to buy!

I install a lot of truxedo covers (mainly on Fords) and never have issues. Haven't had any complains of leaks and the mechanisms seem to be durable. Not my style of a cover but if I wanted a roll up that's what I could get. They are a little pricey. Perhaps look around the market place on here or local Craig'slist or something for a used one in good condition
