    A lot of discussion have been had between members on the value, and necessity of changing the fuel filter. I know its importance. Many others do as well. However, from a readers perspective, they can look at our thoughts as just opinions. Which is understandable. What is also understandable is that you get used to the degradation of performance of "x" amount of time, and if there are no specific malfunctions, then "all is still well." That being said, here are a fuel picture, and a video.

    Post up what you find in yours when you change yours.

    This was from a 1998 Tacoma with approximately 220k miles. Changed a few months ago. Maybe @Samboats can add the video.

    I just replace mine at the recommended interval. They are pretty easy to get to on the Gen 1's. I usually get some mud out of them when I dump them out, so they seem to be doing something. I haven't had to replace my injectors yet. :fingerscrossed:

    Keep that fuel filter changed every 30-50k, and your injectors will love you long time.

    Oh damn.
    Installed the urd kit at 60K, this came out at 90K (30,000 miles later), nothing but california 91 octane from shell, chevron, and in a pinch mobil, 1 time 76... its entire life.

    I really need to get the urd fuel pump/filter setup... damn weather needs to cool down so I can install it with out melting away too. :(
    Amazing all the junk that gets past the fuel filters at the gas pumps, I wonder how often they are supposed to change those if ever.

    I sincerely doubt gas station pumps ever receive more maintenance than absolutely necessary to keep them in compliance with state volume & measurement requirements. Even that is no guarantee.

    I've seen what gasoline looks like at the refinery, tank farm, terminal, and everywhere in between. Anyone who owns and operates something with a gasoline or diesel engine would be wise and proactive to properly maintain the engine's fuel system.

    Doesn't surprise me. I placed my order for the fuel pump upgrade right now. Looks like the weather might finally be giving us a break for a few weeks out here.

    I change mine every year regardless of the mileage, which is usually only 5 to 6 thousand miles. Even at these low mileage changes I still get dirt and discolored fuel out of the filter.

    You have the filter which came with the URD fuel pump upgrade kit, yes?

    At ~$15, it sure doesn't hurt being proactive.

    Got to remove the OEM filter, which is like a shroud around the OEM pump, then add an external fuel filter.

    The URD kit has very simple instructions, for those that aren't comfortable attempting without instructions.

    This is the perfect place to ask this....but does anyone know the local equivalent part number to the fuel filter from URD? Ive had mine on for some 45k miles and I have been thinking about changing it. I like URD but id prefer not to spend double (when shipping is factored in). I just cant see the numbers on it in its current position.

    I was going to post a link but I cant seem to find it right now. Anyway, its from urdusa.com and its roughly$180 if I remember right.
