Curious has anybody added a supercharger on a high milage 3.4?
My 99 3.4 Auto has 249 K original miles. Runs flawlessly , but with all the additions I need more power. Worried that some have mentioned adding a SC on high miles motor is risky.

May be risky but I know others have thrown on a SC with 200k+ miles on the 3.4. If you're worried I would do a compression check to see where you're at prior to pulling the trigger.

Hmm Hopefully they can share some insight, what Psi numbers should I be looking for?

i got 235k threw a 2nd gen on with nothing else, runs fine just the obvious lean outs, probably depends on your motor and how well you take care, charger does get really hot at times though,

to add on, im doing 6 pounds, 3.4 manual

As long as you do a leak down test and compression test and your numbers are good, you should be ok.

Came here to say this. Considering the age of your engine I would strongly recommend fuel mods as well. If you don't want to put the money into the 7th Injector kit, at least add larger fuel injectors and the cooler spark plugs. Even low boost figures put added stress on the motor and you'll want to compensate for that wherever you can.

Gotcha gonna do the comp test soon. Do I also have to remove the efi fuse?

And yes I am doing research on fuel mods as installing it alone will be dangerous. Considering 7th kit but not sure if I have egr and its costly. I have heard I can run larger fuel injectors , such as ones off a certain lexus model car, and 2 step colder plugs, and cooler thermostat/.

But still not sure if doing more fuel injectors is enough compared to the 7th kit?

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I would have no issues throwing it on. Hell i was going to put mine on my 300k motor. But road salt ate away the lug for mounting the superchargers tensioner.. Pulled the engine apart and it still looked like it could take all you could throw at it with the supercharger.

I think the best way to avoid issues with CA smog would be to run larger injectors, next would be to run the 7th injector kit. But it's got a shiny metal braided fuel line that stands out like a sore thumb so it depends on the smog tech I guess. Also make sure that whoever you're getting the supercharger from is throwing in the CARB certification sticker for under the hood or else that could cause issues with smogging it as well.

would you not need a fuel control and tuning to run larger injectors? or is there actually a bigger drop in injector available

With the injectors itself? no computer accessories? I know sparkplugs would be needed and a bigger faster fuel pump

Urd produced a kit with 6 larger injectors before the 7th kit became available. @Blackdawg has info in his thread if I remember correctly.

Don't be worried for a second. Long as the motor is in good shape. the miles won't matter.

If you are going to run 6 larger injectors, gor for the AEM FIC6 controller.

The 7th kit is not bad though and you shouldn't have issues with your year of truck. Shouldn't affect Smog. There are plenty in cali running that kit i think. Its also easy to hide. The injector is on the back of the blower.

Hmm haven't heard of that one. That urd 6 injector kit is more expensive than the 7th kit. I'm not worried about my motor too much its running flawlessly and has good power but I added lots of weight.
