Trail closes October 15th. Maybe when the leaves starting changing we can do a run.

Also was talking to @Joe23 about doing a run in the Peterborough area. Easy trails, based on of4wd. Can do a bunch of them in a day and then camp out at my uncles place where we have the snow runs.

That's relatively early. I thought they closed later like in November for the snowmobile trails

    Fall colour run feeler.
Okay, this run may interest some people. I am planning on doing this some time in the fall. It is in the Oshawa/Peterborough area so its is pretty close for those in the GTA. Additionally this is for people who want to try some offloading and camping. The first 2 trails are easy peezy (based on OF4WD scale) and then the third is a bit tougher (2 out of 5). The trail heads of each trail would take 47mins of driving to visit if you were to go to each one and not run the trail (from 1 to 2 to 3 would be 47 mins) which means they are pretty close to each other. After we run all the trails, my family has a piece of property close to the area we could all go and camp on. It is off the 115 highway maybe 10-15 mins from the 401.

    The three trails:
    Boundary Road 1+ trail-14.2 km
    Trail Description
Boundary road is an un-assumed road in which people enjoy in the winter as a snowmobile trail and ride in the warmer months when looking to go for a scenic drive. The road can be passed in a fairly stock vehicle however can be very muddy in the spring thaw time. Private and conservation land is to the north and south of the road so please stay on the road and enjoy the view. Enfeild Rd, Wotten Rd, Avery Rd, Fowler Rd, Longsault Rad and Murphy Road are allowable.
    Cautions
Private and conservation land to the north and south of road, do not enter areas. Policed frequently.

Reports in mid 2012 state lost of garbage on side of trail, a clean up was done by the OF4WD and OFSC clubs in October 2012.

    Terrain Type

    Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Rear Tow Points, Stock Vehicles

    Wild Turkey Road 1 trail-5km
    Trail Description
A fun and simple trail / um-assumed road making your drive home or away a little more exciting. Follow BallyDuff road as per the gpx track provided.
    Trail Highlights
A nice grassy picnic spot is near the beginning. Very good wildlife as it runs along the North side of Fleetwood Conservation area.
    User Groups
    Snowmobiles
    Terrain Type
    Rock, Water less than 3";
    Truck Requirements
    Stock Vehicles

    Hogsback 2 trail-3.2km
    Trail Description
Mainly rock and hard packed dirt base. Starts with a deep mud/water hole (with bypass) Hill climb at the end is steep and lose rock. Holes can be deep after a rain. 24". Private land all around trail, stay on the trail / un-assumed road. Exit slow as someone has been pulling an old fence across the trail at the start of Dranoel Rd.
    Cautions
This area has seen recent development. Please stay on trail and maintain a low profile to ensure continued access to this trail.
    Terrain Type
    Rock, Water 24
    Truck Requirements
Front Tow Points, Min 33 Tires, Rear Tow Points
    Directions
From Omemee take Ski Hill Rd. South to Hoggsback Rd. (may be at Hillview Dr.)

In Addition to those three trails, we are also right by the Ganaraska forest (http://www.grca.on.ca/forest.html) which has trails open apparently to motorized vehicles (I would have to call and see how many roads for trucks and what not. This is paid though. The other ones are on crown land. I haven't checked the length of each trail but I am assuming it would only take a couple hours to run all of them (haven't downloaded and checked the routes)

@Joe23 was also thinking of doing Minden for a fall colours run. It is also pretty close compared to Ardbeg. Additionally, we could head up to @llamasmurf neck of the woods and run the VMUTS trail which is a bunch of logging roads but lots of beauty views. This is a bit further up in North Bay.

only problem with minden is its not stock friendly.
armour and breathers are pretty much a must for that trail. You can do it stock otherwise but without skids damage becomes a lot more likely. And without breathers...well the water crossings are pretty deep to do without. Water in the diff would be likely.

Just curious who would be down for a just a camp as well some time? Probably not this year but next spring/summer?
I'm thinking algonquin or something. I know my girlfriend wants to go again so we'd be going again next spring I know its far off but just wondering who else would be down?

I'll see about a fall trip not sure yet, possibly not as far will have to see.
Just know she keeps saying she wants to go again since we haven't been since the spring. So probably try and go somewhere a little closer this fall. Then thinking algonquin in the spring next year.
