Hoping this will be the one thing to make me fall in love with the Tacoma. It's growing on me, but I haven't gotten over my previous FJ for some reason.

 

Today I went in with my father to buy him a tacoma. Omfg, I dont remeber it was this bad. Im so glad I got the tune. Excited for 1.02!

Also, as I get ready for the tune.

Is it okay to fill up 19 gallons of 91 or will I have to burn more gas past E to reach the requirement for a full tank of 91?

I thought modern engines don't use fuel when engine braking. I heard that on top gear so maybe I'm wrong.

 

Less engine braking / A little higher idle - Well, the trade-off for these two isn't worth it to M/T owners who go off road IMO. Specifically, when crawling in 4low you need consistent engine braking and a low idle speed. Otherwise, I'd be slipping the clutch a LOT over rough terrain (yes, even in 4lo 1st gear).

 

Correct sir. DFCO has been a feature for a while... and is on the 2GR, at least.

Well I didn't take the plunge...I was planning too but I took a drive to the NOGA mountains yesterday. 80 miles up there and back on SMALL rolling hills and this eng/transmission is a fuckin' nightmare with it's incessant downshifting/upshifting trying to maintain 70mph on a slight grade. Since there is no Tranny flash yet with very positive reports I couldn't do it.

I need an effective tranny flash and maximised torque between 1500-2500 rpm to make this thing acceptable to drive on the HWY. Still keeping my fingers crossed we will get that...looking forward to the reports on 1.02 and the 87 tune...

Bunch of excited folks here today and it's still night time for another hour and a half where OV is...

Had such a blast on 1.01 over the holiday weekend, but of course consistency, shifting, intake, etc., will be welcome additions.

For me personally I wouldn't MIND if there was a bit more power so long as it wasn't clearly negating the reliability of the truck. Can't wait for the write up and Dyno!

 

My commute into work was miserable. I took off my SSP because I'm about to take my truck in for service and its so f*cking bad.

I'm eager to hear the 1.02 reports.

 

1.02 today. I just plugged my laptop in to get it charged up.

I might even wash my truck. I'm just that excited.

 

It would be cool to get the list of updates he is providing. Did he already say what they are and I missed it?

This is TBA on the automatic for complete implementation since throttle logic is different

There has been many things that were going to be included in 1.02 but I have a feeling not everything will be. I'm sure Mat will give a nice update upon release, im just excited as hell.
