He's thrown out a lot of ideas for potential features/improvements, but given the couple of Dyno days and complexity of the ECU I'm sure he's run into surprises - probably good and bad, in the process so we won't know what specifically is IN this release until the tests are done. Sounds like intake adjustments, additional throttle controls, perhaps limitations on the trans learning, quicker/smoother shifting, an 87 octane option, overall refinements in driveability, amongst other things are likely to make it in this release.

If he can build on the smoothness that 1.01 brought with a bit more refinement, fix the trans shift points / learning, etc., there will be a ton of happy folks on here.

Yesterday I was out driving with wife in the passenger seat - when heading back toward our house, the side road we turn onto is really steep for the first 1/2 mile. I often accelerate really quickly to pull up this hill (want to get it in the power band and all, ya know?) but the damn thing takes off like a banshee now. My wife says to me "damn, it shifts gears so smoothly since your tune..." Building on this will be a VERY good thing!

...now let's all be realistic on timing. Unlikely many people are going to see this file in their box by end-of-day would be my guess once he gets through testing, more code changes, and write-up on what people are installing on their truck, but I'm crossing fingers!

After reading almost all of the post (including the first one) i didn't see the instructions on running premium before the install..
    Is this required...?

Not required, but make sure your tank has 91+ in it before flashing.

I ran a couple of tanks of premium through just because I'm paranoid ;) Wanted to make sure every last sip of regular was out of the system before tuning and advancing that timing but several have filled up with premium, flashed, and been fine.

Lol, funny guy. Guess I should have been more specific on the updates I was referring to. Those aren't updates, they are guidelines on what he is working on.
    - what area of the rpm were gains made? Low or just high, dyno results?
    - do we need to choose the 87 tune or is it part of the map now. How does that work. I like running 93 but what if I have to run 87 once?
    - are all 16 maps still being used? What happened with the two tests guys running limited learning?
    - any new findings with the tune that are interesting and cool to talk about?

Liked I said, I'm sure there will be a nice update when the time comes for release.

Just to level set expectations, I highly doubt he's getting out 1.02 to everyone today..or even tomorrow. I'd guess he's finishing it up today and then we will get updated on what was done and will see updates sent out later this week.

    - we don't know the rpm gains until he gets done w/ the Dyno today. 1.01 was focused in the midrange, but I definitely feel more peppiness in the low-end despite him not being able to show a reliable dyno down low
    - he will offer the 87 files to anyone who asks for them. good to request and have handy in case you are forced to run lower octane at some point.
    - unknown, but this is a high-demand feature so we are hoping he can limit the 16 maps to cut off the low-end of the overly conservative shifting patterns that drive people nuts when it goes to 6th going 30mph!
    - 1.01 was smooth, peppy, without feeling like it was overly pushing the engine but will scream if you are over 2500rpms on ECT... fun!

Agreed, this is most likely what will happen. On the other side of that coin though, Mat needs to get some ppl running the snot out 1.02 to see if anything shakes out..

@OVTune any value in those of us who have a few miles clocked on 1.01 to re-read our ECU file(s). Point being is this a safer way to refresh back to an old version if we needed to since I assume the i-throttle / fuel map learning probably sits in those files as it's making changes to the long-term memory with driving?

I don't think it works that way. I'm pretty sure the learned values aren't part of the flash file. Flashing a new tune does not reset the learned data, at least not that I have seen. I still have to go manually reset it in Techstream.

Yeah suddenly there was so many more people popping up. I guess more people are watching this thread than we anticipated because we do not advertise our kit anywhere except this one thread.

    ahahah

No this is not necessary, none of the learned or memory data is stored in the file. All of the learned memory / zones / shifting is stored in "temporary" memory that is only active as long as power is going to the ECU (even when car is off). It's never stored in the ROM which is "hard" memory.

ROM is like writing in PEN, if you want to change something you start over with a new piece of paper (when you flash the ECU you are over-writing the ENTIRE file inside)
RAM is like writing in PENCIL, you can erase and change but you can never make it permanent.
