    New truck, old softopper.

The rails at the pivot were getting crushed a bit so drilled them out and reinforced with some aluminum bar.

Does anybody have a picture of what it looks like from inside the bed looking forward with the top folded down?

Sure is, i splurged and got that along with the extra rear mesh window when the GB was active. I've yet to use the mesh screen because I like my tinted rear window so much :D

Sorry for all the questions. Is the tinted window an option on the top or is it standard? With the bag on the topper, can it be moved up enough to get it out of the way for a motorcycle tire to be pressed directly against the bed front upper frame piece?

Tinted is an option, I also heard they might not do it anymore. When you place an order, you need to email them and ask to have your clear one swapped. They will charge you the difference, which I think was around $20. Again, they might tell you to just buy the additional window w tint instead of swapping for you.

Yes, with the bag installed you can still pivot the whole unit. You can actually flip it 180 degrees and have it rest on the tailgate instead of up by the cab.

I appreciate it. I loved the fiberglass shell on my super duty cause I sealed it to my cab and could heat the bed area for my dogs and hopefully the softopper is even better for that and long distance travel with my bike.

I don't think the soft topper will hold heat like the fiberglass, other than summer, but I don't think that's what time of year your trying to heat.

If I needed to put a bike in that touched the front of the bed, I would put on the storage bag, and lift up the topper to rest on top of bike tire.

I agree, doubt the softtopper will retain any heat in the winter.

    Reserected from the dead.

I disagree. I've owned both and slept in both during cool, fall conditions. Both will get cold quite fast after the sun goes down. Fiberglass caps offer very little insulation value. The best bang for heat retention is to reduce drafts. This applies for a soft topper or a rigid cap.

So planning on ordering a softopper in the next week or so, but the final question is what color should I go with. It will be going on a 2017 MGM DCBL OR? Open to any color but have been leaning towards the tan.

I was going back-and-forth between black and tan for my MGM, then found a great CL deal for a grey one that i couldn't pass up, and am actually really happy with the look. Grey contrasts the MGM almost like a tan softopper contrasts a pyrite mica.

I went with black, figuring it would fade. Not sure I would go tan.

I went back and forth between Grey and Black before taking a Gamble and going with Grey. I figured black was the safe choice. I love the grey, and the match my whole gunmetal theme I got going on.
