I just had my transmission updated the other day with the "latest" revision and it shifts exactly the same as it did before it when in. I had an update in January 2017 and the truck shifted pretty much exactly the way I wanted it to, 3 weeks later its back to "normal". I was hoping this revision would fix it like others have said, but I guess I'm not one of the lucky ones or the dealer I took it to just said they updated it but they did nothing.

At a dealership now, Taco is going away. Fluid adjusted, rev1 done, still can't stand this thing.

Good luck to those who are having trouble and glad some aren't having issues.

How do we ask for the Engineer in charge to resign, but do it politely? I only expected this level of Engineering out of Ford or GM, never Toyota.

With how much those of you who are trading in are losing by doing so, you could just spend the ~800 for OVTune and love your truck again...I understand your pain...was considering losing gobs getting into a Manual, so glad I waited for the tune.

Installed last Sunday, been driving on it all week and loving it. It's also not finished by a long shot. A new dyno session/release is expected next week

There is the argument that for $800 you can improve your Taco, but had I known how nice this (low miles, TRD OR Premium w/ KDSS) 4Runner was, I would have bought one years ago! Is quieter, smoother, drives better, actually goes up hills (even at 6000 feet) at 1600 RPMs, haven't had it reach 3000 RPMs going up any hill so far when the 3.5 POS would have to be 4000-4500 RPMs for some of the same hills. And best yet, I have not been pissed at it once. It actually shifts when it is supposed to shift, and doesn't when it isn't supposed to. The 3.5 is more like yeah, I got this lets go into 4th. Uhhh, maybe not back to 3rd I go. Nah, on second thought I can do it - and back to 4th we go! Huh? Why can't I make it up this hill in 4th? Lets go back to 3rd. You know what, lets give it another try and get it done in 4th. Well shit, still can't make it, 3rd it is. Why am I in 3rd gear right now, we can do it in 4th...

Need a truck...800 dollars to fix it isnt something we should have to do but if it fixes it, and it does, it's certainly a better option than ditching the truck and taking a bigger loss or getting in another vehicle that doesn't fit your needs as well.

As a consumer, we shouldn't have to rely on third parties to do r&d for new ecu programs, just sayin. And I thought the cost was 700?

Where have the "shouldn't have to" arguments gotten us thus far? I get it...we shouldn't. But we do. The fact is the situation we are in isn't for lack of trying.

And it was like 780 shipped

I've had the TSB done for over a year and 15k miles. The TSB made some improvement, but still not close to what it should be. Some have complained that sometime after the TSB, their 3.5L slipped back to what it did before. Not mine.....but still not happy.

I supposedly just had the TSB done.
Does anyone have any idea how to validate it's been done?

I do not have Techstream. So not sure where to find it, but you are looking for the Calibration ID(s)

Just look under the hood for the label indicating it was performed, as dictated by the TSB. Just kidding, I've had both rev installed and no label exists. Seriously, some of the shifting weirdness should no longer exists. But it definitely doesn't fix the transmission's poor design.

With the OBD Fusion app I am ensuring that the Calibration ID number(s) are the current ones listed in the TSB.
    I am quoting dsmith9455 below:

See the following post: T-SB-0077-16 Rev 1

Hey, I am having trouble finding an Android ODB app that displays the firmware number of the ECU (I think I said that right :/). I want to confirm my dealer actually updated my truck. I found one app that does, but you have to buy a specific brand of OBD Bluetooth thing, and I already have a different one.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
