Lift with just 5100's in the rear?

Looking to start putting together a very mild lift and am wondering if there's any lift by switching to 5100's in the back with no other change? For some reason I think I read a few posts stating a 1/2-3/4" of lift with just the new shocks in back. Is this true?

Not an actual "lift" by this forum standards but I just put on 5100's and got ??" in the rear higher than stock. Depends I guess on what the word means.

In for explanations as to how a 5100 shock can lift the rear of a Tacoma.

 

If you run your tank to empty and take the groceries out of the bed, that's good for a 1/2 inch.

I'm sure you figured it out already, but there is nothing the rear shocks do, or can do, to provide lift.

All shocks are height adjustable! You can get at least 1.5 inches out of factory shocks. Just lift your truck with a jack (by the body or factory bumpers, not the frame). When the tires come off the ground just run a bolt through the top of the shock body. Be sure it goes all the way through and put a bolt on the threaded end. Set er down & BOOM! lifted. Some guys achieve the same results by putting a hose clamp at the base of the shock piston but will still need to put a self tapper above it to keep it from sliding up.
