Special Ops are an anomaly, though. For example, some of them were still using the 1911 as their sidearm for years after it had been replaced (I think that Force Recon just phased out the 1911 a couple of years ago). The SEALS used the Sig226 for years, I think, before recently switching to the G19.

True. I know the 226 is still floating around. MARSOC uses the G19 and Army special ops uses it as well. The 226 is being phased out in favor of the G19 though. Which is why I anticipate it's only a matter of time till we have the Gen5 coming.

Alright guys, hurricane Irma is going to mess up south FL.

What do I do with my guns?!!

My safe is bolted down, but I'm worried the safe isn't strong enough to support a structure falling onto it. I work at the firehouse so I will be gone during the storm and afterwards for recovery efforts.what are your guys thoughts?

But actually, I would put them in some kind of waterproof container/body bag, vacuum bag something of that nature and put them right back in the safe and close the door!

That's an option, going to be hard to find but an option.

I was thinking about something of that nature, do you think Saran Wrap would do the job?

Unless you can unbolt your safe and move it to the firehouse, leave them in there but bag them like smugly said. Maybe move whatever is on the floor above it away from the safe so that if something DOES fall down on it it's drywall and floor board instead of loaded furniture.

There's always the risk of looting during floods so you don't want to just throw them on the highest floor and leave.

Thanks guys. My first big storm as an adult with guns. Not freaking out, just trying to be prepared. Also my house isn't built with CBS like my parents.

If you can't get something together like many people are suggesting on here, another last chance option would be putting all of your stuff in your safe and duct taping the shit out of that door and any other openings, like power cord holes and such

I was also going to mention sealing the door opening. And don't forget the bolt hole openings in the bottom of the safe.

If you have room, raise the buttstocks off the floor of the safe - that way, if water does get it, you will have an extra inch or two of space before it touches your wrapped guns.

Don't forget to bag your ammo as well.
