Ok. So today was pretty fun. It took me awhile to find the compressor which I finally found thanks to @dtaco06. Pretty good little rig for $60 OTD. Though, like he said it does get really got. It inflated my 32's from 18psi to 38psi in 2:30sec. Pretty good.

Ok. Now onto maple springs. Thanks to @WileECoyote for the address. It lead me right to the base of the trail. Took me around 45min to get there not using toll roads.

So I didn't realize how much pavement was before the trail and aired down a little early. But there also isn't another good spot to air down before the trail. The trail is fairly steep and fun. My rig handled it really well.

I got about 20min up and took a break to eat lunch. At that point I was contemplating heading back down as I didn't want to get any further up and have a problem that left me stuck. What's hard as a noob is knowing when to be cautious and when to not. I didn't see a person for a long while so I didn't was leaning to the cautious side.

As I started packing up a dude in a newer 4x4 tacoma pulled into my turn out with his son to take a break. I told him what was up and asked if he was headed up and he said yeah and I could follow him. It was cool being able to see someone else's lines and follow someone on the trail. I followed him up for another 20minutes before I took another turn out. Again, he didn't have any recovery gear and I still don't have I spare wheel yet, so getting down on my crappy 16" passenger tire was worrying me. That's even if I could get my truck jacked up with the bottle jack. So I decided to turn back and play it safe until I get my ducks in a row or go with people who are experienced.

I made my way down the mountain. Idk how far I was from the peak. But I felt pretty far up. It's much different than Holy Jim that's for sure. Also airing down was so much better of a ride quality and I felt like my traction was much better.

When I got to the bottom I aired up on a turn out. Side note: I need to figure out how to air down faster and how to know the PSI that the inflator is at without measuring then putting it back on to fill up more each time I check lol.

Then I decided I wanted to gain more confidence for my next trip up there so I headed to holy Jim to work on driving and do some of the offshoots. I drove around there for another hour and a half till I headed home. 100 miles road/dirt combined today and I lot of stuff learned. Really fun time for this surfer dude learning how to adventure in his truck. I'm hooked.

Biggest thing for me is gaining confidence in my skills and my truck as well as being out on the trail. Hopefully that will come with time.

Very NICE pics and very glad you had fun!!!:fistbump::cheers::mudding:

I apologize for not telling you about Maple Springs Road about the airing down!!! :sorry::pout: I guess you can look at it like this though, the dirt sort of creeps up on you all of a sudden as well!!!:goingcrazy: Airing down for that little bit of road I definitely wouldn't worry about it... just as long as you don't air down to the point to where you're riding the sidewalls of the tires as that would be very bad JUJU!!! :boom: LOL!!!:laugh::rofl:

As far as I know, 16 Sep is still pending for Santiago Peak morningish run, and we have a list of:
    you (Tacotruck7)
    @JaCado

any of you guys would be cool to hang out with:fingerscrossed::thumbsup::fistbump: (NOTE: I know Calico and San G is the next weekend... I still can't make it to San G. because it would be too much of a rush for me to get back to my sisters place)

I WOULD invite @MotoEd Ed, but he's "hot boxing" with the hippies!!! :rasta: :laugh::rofl: Had a good time wheel'n with you brotha!!! :(:pout:

I'll lead, but may need some navigational assistance from time-to-time (i.e. especially coming back down, LMAO...)? Although, I may split off on to Indian Truck Trail coming back down to get to the 15fwy side of the mountain... so I can get to my sister's place quicker after the run).

What time is the best for you guys? 8am? Earlier... later??? :notsure: Should I start a separate thread dedicated for SP runs??? :notsure: If everything turns out as planned, I will have my truck by then and meet everyone at the trailhead.

    EDIT:
@bigbarlo CHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be cool to have you come wheel as well brotha!!!:fistbump:

You just worry about getting your truck back and a way to protect it even if it means hooking up a electrifying the body so if someone touches it they get a nice little jolt.

I will have to look that up???

I know that 4wd is highly recommended. I've been pestering @dtaco06 Danny about it forever and it's ALWAYS "ME" that has the "odd schedules" when these trips come up. :annoyed:
