Honestly couldn't be happier with the service he's provided so far. Paradise will have my business for a long time if Luis and team handle everything the way he did my order this weekend/today I'm a turbo noob and he had no problem breaking every aspect down for me which was a lot more than LCE did. I'm not questioning LCE's quality or expertise I just had a bad experience with their technical support when trying to figure out a setup. To each their own

Well, as someone who literally spends recreational time with those guys, they deal with a lot of tire kickers. They do know what they are talking about, but as you will probably never get the engine tuner they have on the phone to explain everything about the parts you may purchase, they can only divulge so much to you.

Luis is a different story. He is an engine builder/tuner so he can spew out GOBS of info on request. He just so happens to have had a lot of early success, and built a nice clientele as well as a reputation enough to have a store and be able to be a successful vendor.

Neither company, to me, holds more weight than the other. Both have 1800hp 3rz motors that they have built and are racing currently. Just differs on the size of the company, and the ability to talk directly to the builders themselves.

I understand LCE is quality and honestly I still bought my clutch off of them but it's a shame to have a resource as knowledgeable as them shutting people down because they don't fork over the CC info after less than 5 minutes of questions.
A lot can go wrong boosting we all hear that so a novice is gonna need a good amount of advice to justify the many thousands spent and risked when making that first purchase.
I'd never question their experience or expertise on taco motors just their patience... lol
For a seasoned vet with less questions yes I bet they are awesome but for a first time booster I had a different experience that's all.

@MrCrowntown no bad blood or anything just "bs" about my first boost purchase. I likely was just flagged as a "tire kicker" like you said just unfortunate that that wasn't the case.

As @boostedka touched on, once you pull your plugs, you'll have an idea what the current gap is.

There's no bad blood, just had to be sure you understood their position.

I had to come at them with a full block, turbo, ecu, and ancillary parts for them to be willing to tackle the job. They decided to make a production turbo kit for the 2tr since I bugged them for ten years straight, and was providing them with a block too

Okay, i did some searching when i got home.

    Just post this:
    http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/t...129-0207-toyota-transfer-case-rebuild-upgrade

And this....cant believe its on a ford forum:eek:
    http://www.f150hub.com/drivetrain/toyota-rf-vf.html

    And this....
    https://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/transmission/transmission-gear-ratio-chart

    My notes:
    r151f only on 85-87 22rte
    23 spline
    1st 4.313:1- 2nd 2.330:1- 3rd 1.436:1- 4th 1.000:1- 5th 0.838:1- Reverse 4.843:1

    R150f v6 tacoma (readily available)
    23 spline

    w59 3rz
    23 spline

    3rz and 5vz auto/ 5vz manual(r150f)
    23 spline
Same transfer case bolt up per LCE gear drive t case adapter

Therefore, my w59 transfer case will not bolt up with a r150f or r151f...

2RZ and 3RZ are 0.031" factory gap. 5VZ is 0.043" factory gap. Per the 98 Tacoma Owners Manual.

    Thank you.

No need to widen it then. This must be why I remember something about @MadTaco461 saying his was around .028"?

So guys....motor should be here Thursday or Friday. Now to decide if I want the hard to find r151f with the 4.31 first gear or say screw it and go r150f so I can maybe get it done quicker....

I gapped mine tighter for 10psi plus. I never had a blow out issue with the factory gap. It's pretty violent when you don't have a proper gapped plug. In general you want that gap open as you can afford.

You could also look into the new R156F that is in 3rd gen 4 bangers. It has the same gear ratios for 1st through 4th as the R151F with a 0.79 5th gear (per Wikipedia).

I have no idea. I was just putting it out there as it has the gear ratios that he is looking for with a better 5th gear for freeway cruising. It is mated to the Dual VVT 2TR-FE in the 16-17 Tacomas, so I would imagine that it would fit the 05-15 trucks. I can't speak for older trucks though.

2TR short block and 3rz short blocks are identical. Strong possibility of them fitting each other.

Only difference in the rear of the 2tr block from a 3rz, is the sub pan. I believe @MadTaco461 has gotten pretty far with his swap, although summer has hindered things lol

Office life has made me soft. So far the r155 is full bolt on. Only issue is for the transfer case if you go 4x. Transfer case is electronic switch. Just gotta make a standalone selector.
