What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I have this issue with my heavier plate bumper, interested to hear what you find out.

 

Put a new Pioneer head unit in today. Want the Apple Car Play after using in a couple of rentals. Looks great, sounds great and the steering controls work. Hid the iPhone cable nicely on the lower left side right by the phone mount.

Now I need to put some LEDs down by the center cup holders to see at night.

 

Secondary air filter mod. 27,000 miles and already contained some small debris. That sponge was bullshit. Thanks TW for the info.

 

Love the black on the fake beadlocks. Been trying to convince myself to do the same on my TX Pro. Might do it now.

You mentioned you have the same problem and threw your heavy plate bumper into the mix. Are you thinking the weight has something to do with it? I just threw an aluminum bumper on (80lbs) around the same time I started to notice the tranny issue.

 

It started right after I installed mine, I'm thinking the computer might be calibrated for a certain weight distribution and the bumper throws that off??

 

Well shoot man, How many guys have put heavier bumpers on and why haven't we heard more people talk about this issue?
Has anyone else experienced this?

Mine is only 80lbs. I also have the heavy duty Old Man Emu's on the front end.

 

This came out of a 2001 Avalon after I bought it used... I was thrilled to find the snake skin shedding!

 

Maybe you could start a thread about this topic, I've heard at least two other guys on here who have had this issue.

 

Met a WCU police officer today because of these things. Apparently red is illegal and therefore he decided to stop me. But he was also a Tacoma owner so he let me go with a "Just don't run red" and proceeded to talk Tacoma. Nice guy at least.

 

What kind of mount did you go with?

 

I bet the AC in that Avalon smelled absolutely wonderful, you know like fresh cat piss.

Test fitted to FN Wheels BFD's. To work out how much lift for clearance with 275/65r18 .. turns out there was no ribbing after taking off mud flap and front flap.

 

Oh lawd That Avalon has seen some things.

 

Scrub scrub scrub. Scrubbed 3 years worth of dirt out of my Bestop. I usually just wipe it down with car wash soap and a sponge. Im gonna re-waterproof it tomorrow.

I redid and extended the driver side HID ballast ground to a new location. The old ground bolt kept getting corroded and the light would go out every few months even after covering everything dielectric grease.

Lastly, I was able to recreate the noise I was hearing yesterday. Its more of a chirp than a squeak. Its coming from the from the front end I beleive , not the engine bay like I had first thought. The noise goes away when you touch the brake pedal. I havent touched anything on the front end since the ECGS bushing a few months back save for new wheels/tires last week. I need to start pulling shit apart tomorrow
