Im about to buy an amp(s) and need some input. Which would be a better set up for a JL 13TW5; a JL 900/5 or Alpine PDX1.600 & Alpine PDX 4.100? I can get the Alpines for approx $300 less the 900/5.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I know this wasn't one of your options, but I would get the PDX 4.100 and PDX 1.1000. RMS on that speaker is 600, so tune it properly.

If the 1000 is out of the question, I would still get the PDX. Usually they are under rated (JL's are too), so you will likely be putting more out than 600W...

Just noticed Amazon has a MHD900/5 listed for $700. Could that be ran in our trucks? Whats the difference other than being water proof?

From what I can tell, the electronics are identical. There may be some cosmetic differences and I would think that Marine may be a little more built for exposure to elements, but it doesn't say that anywhere... I would still go for the PDX no doubt if they're that much cheaper...

Do the JL 900/5. Thats a 3ohm woofer and JL is going to be the best amp for it. The 900/5 is a really nice amp. Save you some space too.

I've purchased the 900/5 for my truck. It lives under my drivers seat. The only difference between the marine version and the normal version are material changes in a few places to prevent corrosion from humidity. You should be able to find the normal version for slightly less.

The PDX amps have a high noise floor. That's why they have just released a new PDX line.

Thanks for the input guys! I've gone with the Alpines.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I would go JL Audio vs PDX...lots of noise complaint like mentions with PDX.

i'd go with the JL, but that's because i have ocd when it comes to matching manufacturers on amps and subs. I like to keep it all the same. Both are very high quality amps but the JL's are better. If you really want alpine wait till they come out with the new pdx, But as for now the HD's have them beat performance wise
