Lift with just 5100's in the rear?

I'm going to call it an overwhelming consensus that no, shocks alone do not equate to lift. This is what makes sense to me so glad to hear it. Since we're all here and the popcorn is flowing, what IS the best way for me to achieve 1/2-3/4" of lift in the rear? I was looking at the 1/2" leaf packs shims on Wheeler's. Basically very short lift blocks

 

Just add a 1" block in the rear. Shims are to correct driveline angles, so adding them to your correct driveline will just mess it up.

You know what, you're right again, and when you're wrong you're right. Next time I'll be more specific, better yet, I won't post.

 

Won't lift rear but if rear shocks are worn an sagging it will bring it back to where it should be. So sorta lift maybe if you wanna call it that.

 

Add a leaf. Blocks are ok. I've had experience with blocks shifting. Honestly man, save up and get a lift. Spend the coin on a new set of leaf springs in back that provide desired height. Level the front with some bilstein s or spacers. Sounds like your not trying to gain much. If you don't offroad much blocks are fine in back, just check the u-bolts now and again and make sure the blocks you add aren't moving.

 

Are there leaf packs designed for that little lift though? I don't want any more than an inch in the back. For the front i'm going 5100's with 883 springs for 1-1.25" lift.

You're right, those jusy look like 1/2" blocks. I think you're going to do all this though and not notice a damn thing and will have wasted your money.

 

There's a chance you're right about that, however i'm very OCD and tend to notice every slight change. With the tires/wheels i'm looking at this mediocre lift should look just right IMO. Guess we'll find out if i regret my decisions!

 

Well, when you're wrong, you're wrong. Sorry to hurt your feelings, but you were mistaken.

 

Are you trying to get it flat or reverse rake (where the front sits a little higher? You could probably just add 2-3 leafs to your factory ones. But it's a lot easier to throw in a half inch block. If your really OCD buy a one inch block and sand an 8th to a quarter inch off. I'd suggest having a pro do the sanding, gotta keep em flat.

 

Man, I have Wheeler's AAL that I need to sell because it wasn't enough lift for me. But from reading this thread, I'm not sure you want an AAL. Plus, you're on the other side of the country.

 

I'm selling my leafs with an AAL as well. You could add your AAL to mine! Problem solved

 

Not a bad idea. I might have to switch to this tactic.
