RCV is probably the best out there that i know of, expensive AF though. I just go for the parts store brands with lifetime warranty. Wheel - Break - Replace for free - Profit

CVJ or OEM are the consensus on TW.

It is widely noted that the auto parts store options will bind and torsionally shear the shaft in half.

Hm, now that sounds like a pretty damn good idea....but will I be replacing them often if I go this route?

This is what Rock Auto has..

To the first point, no. RCV manufactures new axles to OEM specs and then some. But they are in the business of dealing to folks who will find a way to break anything because of the abuse they put to it when buggy-ing and whatnot.

To the second, that will be the same low quality stuff you get from autozone. Go OEM or reman for CVs, personal opinion (which is shared by many on this site in countless threads).

@stronghammer , alcohol and claybar the area where the metal tab for the rearview mirror goes then apply the glue.

Problem is the "conventional" cleaners don't eliminate "wax and oily " surfaces very well. Had the same issue with my dad's tundra and after doing this, sucker still up there.

my first question was to buying from auto parts store not RCV.

thanks I'll probably give that a shot. I've razor bladed and cleaned that area so much before and it always seems like it holds great but then like 6 months later BAM it falls..

You'd be a lot cooler if you could buy that for both of us. What do you replace yours with, sir?

good to have one, even if its a cheap one, to get you home in case it (when it) happens

I did a ujoint a few weeks ago, (spicer 5-1330-1X) rear one on the rear shaft. lost its zerk (smashed it off somewhere) long time ago. was squeaking bad, and had a vibe. that thing was dry and toasty. took care of the squeak and the vibe.

used one of these, helped tremendously, bought off ebay for like 45 bux I think

Can't help you with the mirror. But take off vibes are commonly drive line angle.

Get under your truck and shake the drive shaft around. It shouldn't move side to side or up and down where the u joints are. It will move around at the carrier, but shouldn't anywhere else.
