So I have a 2006 Double Cab Long Bed. I got it about a year and half ago. Even though im partially happy with it... im drooling over the 2010 4x4 Magnetic Gray...

Thing is... right now I pay $460 with insurance for my truck. Which is pretty good for me, since most people here pay 590 and upwards...

If I get the 2010 one, id be paying about $100 more or so.

Now im wondering if its really worth it or if im just being a baby. So im going to list the PROS and CONS and then you decide if I should stop being a baby or not.

    2006 Tacoma

    PROS:
    - Low Payment
    - Less months to pay it for

    CONS:
    - Not 4x4
    - Black Sand Pearl (This is a work truck, so keeping it clean is a bitch!)
    - USED, and bought used.

    2010 Tacoma

    PROS:
    - 4x4
    - Magnetic Gray (Should be a bit easier to keep clean?)
    - Full Warranty (Even though ill use up the 36k miles in the first year)
    - NEW

    CONS:
    - Going to pay about $100 bucks more.
    - Going to pay for a longer time.

Its not that money is an issue, its more so that I dont want to waste money if I dont need to...

Hmmm. Now that I think about it... a lot of people will be biased because of the 4x4... :smack:

Yeah if I were you I would only upgrade if you need or want 4x4. That's the biggest difference. If you don't need/want it, why waste money?

I upgraded my 2006 silver 6spd sport for a 2010 timberline auto sport. My payments went up bout a hundred bucks as well. I upgraded cause I hurt my knee and couldn't stand the clutch anymore and I really loved the timberline color. Although I'm losing money. I thought to myself "so I only have three years to pay off my 2006, but is it worth it to dump another 15k into my 2006 when I know I'm just gunna eventually trade it in anyways" so I figured it was just better to start over again instead of waiting three more years. Does that make sense?

word. 2010 has extra standard features as well, but the deciding factor to me would be the 4x4.

Well. Im most likely keeping whichever truck I have by the end of the payment. I dont trade in cars. Id rather put them to good use till they are dead. Also, this being a my primary work truck, I plan to use it till it cant run anymore.

Yeah, I was thinking about waiting for either one of the following things:

    - New Model (Redesign)
    - New 2011's, and then 2010's go down.

Both options are ok by me, since it would give me more time to pay my truck and thus giving me a good trade in value, since my truck is still worth what I paid for it, which kicks ass!

As for the 4x4. Its not that I need it, but there have been plenty of occasions where I have wished I had it... which in the end guess it means Id be using it. Again, this is a work truck and there will be a time now and then where I have to drive off into madness to deploy my materials.

I personally wouldn't do it because of all the new standard safety features now that it comes with. I don't want/need any vsc, trac, side airbags, fake lsd, etc.

Just keep what ya got man...Instead of spending all that money on a new truck just put a little money into your current Taco. Add a locker and all that cool stuff :) So you'll be more happy with it

Yes you can't but thats not the point. I wanna be in control of the truck and not have computers cut power etc. I just don't like the fact that they aren't options, and they come whether you want them or not.

The offroad comes with a locker.

In you're pro's and cons you list that you'd use up the 36,000 mile warranty in the first year and you also state that it will cost you $100 per month more.

That is a lot of miles you are driving to not include the additional cost of fuel due to the new one is going to be 4x4
I don't know the MPG difference but it must be some

You need to add that cost into the $100

If your going to drive 36k in the first year don't waste your money on a new truck until the wheels fall off this one.

Don't forget to factor in the maintenance the older vehicle may need in the future vs the 100.00 per mth on the new one. I found out the hard way. Bought the new one next time around. Best of luck on your decision.
