    Hello,

Before anyone starts to say that I should have looked on the forums before starting a thread, I state that everyone talks about the lights they put on just not how they put them on. My question is simple, how can I change the current bulbs for LED's? Do I change them from inside or is it just outside? Can someone please answer? Excuse my noobness.

    Thank you in advance.

Does the owners manual show you how to access the bulbs for a regular replacement?

You have the bed light package? If you do, you have to take it to dealer. It's states somewhere in the manual.

That will be after the unit is opened for the trendy LED install.

I dont think I have the bed light package. My Tacoma is an SR5 Double Cab short bed. All I want to do is change the bulbs, not interested in changing the whole light. Thanks.

If you don't have the Phillips head screws on each side of the lens then owners manual says a dealer has to change them. There is a company that makes a replacement third brake light with LEDs but it's $300.

and will give Toyota the pass on repairing under warranty because he modified and thus voided the warranty on the light fixture

Hmm. I have the led bed light and wanted to replace the bulbs... only to find out that there's no screws on the outside for me to access the bulbs. Then I read the manual and it says to take it to dealership because the roofliner needs to be removed to gain access. Pretty lame.

Buy hey... no leaks! My 3rd brake light is sealed shut.

If you have a double cab, you CANNOT upgrade the LED bed lights(without heavy modifications!!) The housing is sealed shut.
On top of that, the LED board is proprietary. Example A:

They're smoking the stuff where people get rid of their vehicles at 60k miles and don't give a hoot about any kind of maintenance other than oil changes.
