I just noticed this and sorry if this if this is a bad post. (mods feel free to remove if necessary)

But in the owners manual, an Iphone is used as a prop for the Qi charger. Iphones up to this point, do not have wireless charging capabilities.

Good catch, I've already pulled the iQ switch and used that spot for my front camera switch, others are using it for burrito warmers!

You talking about the picture? Seems everyone uses the iPhone shape to represent a smartphone. Some good branding there.

Toyota already knew that the iPhone 8 will have Qi charging.

That's a really thick and under developed Iphone 8 in the illustration :p

No way the phone in that diagram is actually charging. Not placed perfectly within 1/1000th of an inch of the center.

The iPhone 8 won't have a home button! Maybe this is the iPhone 9?

At the date of print the phone was still in development.

They've been cranking these things out in China by the millions for months now. I feel like we can trust the rumors.

They stopped leaking pictures and just started leaking the final product.

I actually found it works a lot more consistently when I put my phone directly up against the edge of the tray. I used to have a hell of a time to get it to charge when I was centering it, now I just drop it in there, make sure it's up against the edge, look for the orange light, and boom, I'm charging.

Besides the button being circular in the manual, there aren't any features that are exclusive to the iPhone. In fact, looking at the manual's drawing, the bezel on the top and bottom of the phone is not equal, which is not a part of any generation iPhone's design.

Just that fact alone is distinguishable. Plus the screen dimensions vs the non functional bottom half is larger on the iphone.

The circular button might distinguish it as an iPhone, but the screen dimensions distinguish it as not an iPhone. In July 2016, Samsung won the battle to use circular "home" buttons on the front of their phones. Apple fought this and failed, thus the phone in the manual's diagram could be any Samsung phone designed after July 2016, and could not be an iPhone, based on the screen dimensions.

So we've arrived here: it can't be an iPhone based off the screen dimensions. It can't be a Samsung phone based off the home button.

    So... where are we?

Based on the comments it sounds like the QI itself is the fail , not the owners manual lol

You said Samsung won the battle in 2016. There would be no battle obviously if there wasnt a threat to their market. Iphone was the popular icon. So anytime before 2016, the iphone design was the standard.
