How can i improve my MPG

2009 4WD Double cab Tacoma TRD, I drive a whoppinig 700 miles a week mostly HWY any idea how to improve my MPG , will changing the Air filter to the TRD performance filter help at all ?

 

Keep it under 2000 RPM. I just hit 18.47 MPG with a 2.5 inch lift and 285/75/16 tires. If I didn't have the lift and tires, I'm sure I would've hit at least 21 MPG. I have the TRD CAI.

I got over getting like 14 MPGs REALLY quick.

Install a block under your gas pedal that only lets you apply a minimal amount of throttle. Well, don't actually do this, but control that right foot!

 

x2 lol. If your like me you'll just have to learn to keep that heavy right foot off the pedal so hard. But definately the CAI and possibly a free flow cat.

 

+1 to everyone... driving habbits is the biggest. Light acceleration and maintaining a constant speed on the hwy. Trucks aren't the most aerodynamic either... so keep your speed down. Super sipper guys never go above 55 mph... screw that but you get my drift.

Also, making your motor more efficient also helps... intake, exhaust, ect. Just don't take and ride around with your tailgate down thinking it's gonna help (thanks mythbusters).

 

Especially around town keep it at the speed limit. Here in Phx we have timed lights so if you go over the speed limit you just sit at every red light. keep it at the limit and you can just keep the cruise control on and rack up the savings.

 

I just finished my first tank with my new Scangauge II installed and the SC said 24.3 mpg (07 trd double 4x4) w/ Extang Solid Fold installed...previously I was calculating 20 mpg so one of us is wrong.

I drive 80 miles a day round trip (highway commute) and about 10 a day in traffic. I'm not easy on the gas by any means (since I don't pay for gas).

I love my truck but don't like the MPG. I get around 220MGP the manual said 260MPG don't know where the other 40MPG are going? what kind of MODS can i make or do you know why I'm loosing so much MPG's?
