Two things for @snowsk8air2, I ran my truck for about a month with the stock billies on the DMZ SUA. Zero off roading though, just work and home and the truck felt fine. Secondly, I built my cage without using my shocks. I had them but opted to use two pieces of pipe at the collapsed and extended lengths. It worked great, only thing I used my shocks for was to check for clearances on the frame notch since I got 3.0s. I did screw that part up and had to extended the notch forward about 1.5".

Thanks for the input. Yeah this would definitely be a no off roading temporary set up. It's just good timing for me to be able to get the bulk of the work done

Are you installing the kit yourself? Im getting nervous to see how much it will cost to get the DMZ rear installed excluding the parts needed.

I think there have been a few local guys that have had it done. Takes roughly 4 or 5 days I'd say. Give or take.

I did mine in 5, with the help of a buddy and a few late nights. But I also build my bed cage from scratch so that took some time itself. Just two weekends in a row pretty much for me.

Yep installing myself. I've already done a shock relocate on my truck and that took a full weekend. This will be about double that. I figure 1 day to strip everything down, 1 day to get the spring hangars and springs in and set pinion angle, then a day or so of cycling everything for shock mount, bumps and buttoning it up. I'd guess a shop would charge you 1k-1500 to do the install

Ah ok got ya...better numbers than I was expecting. I am pulling the trigger tomorrow on the DMZ bolt on bed cage as I don't want to even try to get someone to attempt that over here on the east.

Well don't quote my numbers as I have never had fab work done by a shop, always done it myself. The dmz bed cage is very nice. I hate myself a little for buying it instead of building my own though. I have the tools and skills to build it, just not the down time right now. #boughtnotbuilt this time for me

Shit my whole truck is pretty much that haha. I also like that he does take out some of the math with the shock towers and stuff with that bed cage though.

Anyone ever run anything shorter than a 4" bump with the dmz kit?

I think I may shorten mine this weekend and see if I like it.

I got 2.0 bumps in prep for mine. Im guessing 2.5 is likely optimal, what length were you thinking of going to?

2.0 is fine for our trucks. Think everyone is running them.

Just thinking about shortening the stroke an inch maybe an inch and a half.

    A thing or two...
@Coot83, what shop are you considering for your install? The same one that installed your TC rear, your fabricator buddy, or another shop/someone else?

Im thinking I might look into Kenny over at Witsendfab, but really Im open to any that might have a decent price. I know witsend and iron pig are both going to be some coin. I would think that witsend would be cheaper though and he is a good dude. I can def help get you back down if you decide to come up my way to get your rear done.

I'm not sure if it's just the camera angle but did you make sure the tube clamps release?

On my truck I aligned them and they were easy to remove when tacked on. Once they were fully welded and the bed was installed they became a hassle to take on and off. I have to use a stretcher bar, a strap, a big rubber mallet, and lots of swear words. However it is still nice to be able to remove the bed if needed.
