It's tight but not too tight

It's been like that since early 2013 so I think it's ok

Good place to be stuck though; we just replaced the 5-1/2 year old Walmart Everstart Maxx in my wife's '03 Highlander with another. It wasn't dead and gone, just a bit sluggish, and showed it down to 514 CCA--time to go...

I'm old however IIRC there's no such thing as "too tight"...

I think Johnson Controls make Wallyworld Batteries.

Yeah just raise the hood and sit in the truck with the door open and someone will stop to see if you need help. Had a friend that had a Walmart battery go bad after 22 months. I took him into Walmart and they exchanged it for free. There is only a $20 difference in that battery you listed and a Interstate battery so I'll stick with Interstate.

Most Interstate automotive batteries are made by Johnson Controls, same as Walmart's EverStart--and Optima, and AutoCraft (Advance Auto), and DieHard, and Duralast (Autozone), and many others (google it)--of these, who do you think has the greatest "buying power"?

Same here, we old school (or just old?) guys grew up tightening a bolt and just adding that extra 1/8 to 1/4 turn, just to make sure

I'm not getting into a pissing contest. Interstate batteries go in my truck seeing how I'm paying for it. Have a nice day.

Had mine go bad and leave me stranded 120 miles from home...
Called AAA and waited two hrs to get a jump start then drove home without stopping.
The next day Toyota put one of there new batteries in for free.

I keep a portable jump starter in mine for just such an emergency and have AAA to fall back on if needed.

I buy the cheapest battery for that same reason lol!
Being that heat is the enemy and it lives in it, I get the CCA specified in the manual, as opposed to the biggest cca i can get, and if I can find one with a three year warranty in that spec, I get it because with proper use and maintenance, I usually get a good five years out of it.

I carry portable power with built in jumper as well, never know when an alternator may bust or some poor stranger needs a jump, I don't want to use my truck for that

My '14 was still starting just fine at the last ToyotaCare interval and the dealer caught it and replaced it under warranty. I didn't even know there was a problem. A nice surprise.

That's the nice thing about a conductance tester. In addition to being able to determine actual CCA most will also provide the internal resistance (actually impedance) measurement--when CCA drops to < 70% (80 or 85% in cold climes) and internal resistance starts to climb it's time for a new battery...

Yeah poor man has poor ways.... Got this in the mail a couple days ago and just put it in my truck. Plug in volt meter works great! It goes off when I turn the key off so if there was a chance it would drain my battery that is not a concern with my Tacoma. Best $4.75 I spent for some peace of mind with all this talk on here about bad batteries. :)
