    The ideal shock angle is forward for anything besides crawling- an angle perpendicular to a line drawn between the eyes of the leaf spring at full bump. A vertical or angled rearwards shock becomes less effective the more it is compressed since the angle in relation to the line between the eyes of the leaf spring rotates rearward with compression. But, it's a lot easier to set up.

    Im running 11" billies right now, have been forever.... in a very close to stock location. I spaced my tp mounts in a touch and welded my mounts to the forward and back positions of the axle. Only reason for that is the ubolt flip. I can see how the shocks being faced rear ward and up is great but is it stable around turns with lots of weight in the bed? I go back and forth on it in my head. I can see how /\ would cflex great but not be stable around turns at higher speed

    I follow, but don't see how that setup is possible on a 1st gen with the stock axle. Can't go in front of the axle inboard, because the gas tank is in the way, and the kits that go outboard are angled much more than perpendicular to that line between leaf eyes.

    Super stable with my current setup, and I have a lot of weight. Feels much more controlled in the corners than my previous setup.

    Yes, but again, not happening on a 1st gen.

    Have you thought about picking up a first-gen Tundra axle and making our own "kit" to put shocks outboard the frame?

    Just saw you have an elocker, can't easily make that work in a first-gen Tundra axle. May as well look for a 9" with 4.88s and an ARB! :D

    I'm happy with where the trucks at now.

    Also, if I was putting in that much work to get the shocks outside the frame, it would involve SUA and shocks through the bed anyways.

    Yes you can! I was able to fit a 285 in the stock spare location, 2.5 RR's, and a bag chips back there!

    It was easy. Cut the feet of the Tacoma rails, and grind the WRX rails flat. Bolt the Tacoma feet into the truck a d set the WRX seats on them. Weld them in and good to go
