this thread is a result and continuation of this thread:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/of...091-ea-lay-off-1500-people-close-studios.html

so, i had the interview at Netdevil in Louisville, Colorado and it went very well. i interviewed with their lead engineer, with 2 other engineers, and with their CTO/development manager/hiring manager. they all took me to lunch so the first 2 hours of the interview were very casual. when we got back to the studio, i sat down with CTO and he grilled me about the theory of the systems that they use and about what i would be designing and building. he also asked me many times what improvements and additional systems that i would create for the team.

near the end of the interview, he said, "lets cut to the chase... i think you would be a great fit here and i want to recommend to HR that an offer be extended to you."

holy shit !! he hired me on the spot !! and he wants me to start ASAP.
i have never gone into an interview and found such a perfect fit and been hired immediately. and this is such good timing because my benefits/pay from EA run out in April.

so now, i have to wait for the offer letter (i hope they offer a competitive and comparable salary) and, after i sign it, i would have 3 weeks to move to CO and start the job. damn... its happening so fast now.

    backing up a bit...
i arrived a day before the interview so i had a bunch of free time. so, my aunt and uncle (who live in Arvada) picked me up and gave me a tour of the local areas. they drove me through Louisville, Lafayette, Broomfield, Westminster, and Arvada. so my wife and i will probably chose an apartment in one of those towns.

i must say that the people out there are so nice and so friendly. even the 16 year-old kids at the fast food restaurants were friendly (you dont see that in LA). the whole area is so much more laid back than los angeles and i totally felt relaxed like i was on a vacation. i am really going to love it there.

anyway.... here are a few of the pictures that i took:

view from my hotel room. i was suprised at all the snow on the ground considering it had been sunny and in the 50's for several days.
the hotel was near the FlatIron mall.

i had to at least touch the snow :)

a fair amount of snow all over the place
    [IMG]

aunt and uncle took me to lodo's.

view of the rockies from the outdoor patio at lodo's
    [IMG]

the gods created the heaven and earth.... and then there was chipolte :)

beautiful areas... clear blue skies and fresh air.

    better view of the rockies.

the start of one the hundreds of miles of biking/hiking trails out there
    [IMG]

this was a trail right near one the of the apartments in eastern Broomfield that we were looking at.

GAH!! this will be a nice change. gas in LA is over $3.10 a gallon

Custom body work...boat trailer came of hitch, hit tailgate and Rammed stick thru lower valance while towing boat....hmmm, Maybe I should get a new boat?!?
Congrats on the verbal job offer...I know nothing of the company, so ?; however, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express!

Anyway, having lived in Colorado for 25 years (and a short stint in Orange County, CA) I know you'll love it. The area in which you're looking is awesome and is very close to some of the best things about Colorado (Mountains)!

    Pre-Welcome to Co!

Congrats man! Colorado looks beautiful. I've only been to durango and it was pretty nice there.
I used to live outside LA to the east in Ontario when I was a kid. Still have family out there and visit when I can. I remember going out to Big Bear and seeing snow and being amazed. Living in Colorado you'll see plenty of it :)

so, i got a call from their HR department and they made me a specifc offer.... and, wow! they offered me more than i had expected.

with the cost of living difference from LA to CO, its about a 25% raise.

man.... my wife and i could actually buy a house and start a family.

this is really exciting for us.
