Haven't ignored any one. But the point really is, folks with knowledge are leaving and it hurts the forum.

I wasn't arguing that your point was invalid, merely that there are many other confounding factors in a poll of this type. I think you may also want to reconsider your definition of a "strong reaction" lol.

Yeah, that is a great point. Have to keep that in mind, since at the end of the day, really like TW and would also like to see it keep getting better.

    Thanks

Devo was my 1st choice but the link would not work. Just something about Devo that seems appropriate for TW.

Yeah I saw that. Actually admire those guys, really out there, had a "message", and ahead of their time.

And that early raw video was pretty great imo...

This is my first time buying a vehicle early in its design cycle; therefore, didn't realize there would be initial quality issues.
My family members generally have great luck with vehicles lasting them 250k+ miles with just normal wear and tear repairs.

I haven't ignored anyone on this site and I am open to everyone's opinion about the truck. We can't generalize that all 3rd gens are a POS just because a handful of owners have had issues or don't like the engine/transmission combination.

I live in the hills of West Virginia and my truck has no issues pulling the hills with an auto trans. I am enjoying my truck still and it feels like yesterday I drove it home from the dealership. How much I spent on it has no impact of me coming up with excuses to like it either.

Doesn't matter if it's a $30k truck or a $100k truck, if I don't like it I would be honest about it. I hope everyone who is having issues with their 3rd gen either gets the issues resolved or find a truck that makes them happy.

Actually. I paid cash for my truck! The point is, when you buy a brand new vehicle, you do not expect it to be out of commission for months at a time. Is that asking to much.

Thanks! I talked to a lawyer friend of mine and the part that states, "or one year after original delivery, whichever comes first," is the catch 22.

Actually, I do have a degree in Psychology! Don't worry, I never analyze any one over the internet. I remember on the first day of Psy. 101, Dr. Carter said, "don't go home and analyze the cat!" He was a wise man.

Well, I found one ray of sunshine here, I like my Taco tranny. I just put it into 6th and leave it, a little slow on acceleration, but at my age that's probably a good thing! I did not like the Ram tranny on the loaner by the way.

Satisfied with my truck. I agree with the notion that the poll isn't fact. But its still an indicator in favor of "satisfied". As others have mentioned, I too know many Tacoma owners and a handful of 3rd gen owners. They are all still very excited about this gen, and love the truck (so far). Most people don't know about TW. The people I know don't. And I'm actually glad... I don't want them reading the things I write on here. Ever.

I voted "no". I have a '17 DCSB Sport 4x4 and just purchased a few months ago and probably trading it in this week. I had a 2011 Rock Warrior Tundra and loved it and decided to downsize and went with the Tacoma. I had two other tacomas and they were great but I just can't warm up to this one. The inside feels cheap and for what I gave up in the Tundra vs what I gained in MPG with the Tacoma is not a good ROI for me. I really wanted to like this truck but after two months, I realize I made a mistake. Shifting is not too bad and really no major issues but as granny used to say- it just doesn't melt my butter.
I may keep it but have already started talking to my toyota sales rep and will go from there.

    I also voted "no".
I also had a 07 5.7 Tundra and decided to downsize and get a 2016 Tacoma double cab off road auto. I was able to put up with the truck for almost two years. I realized after a couple of months I made a mistake.
I found a used low mileage Rock Warrior Tundra with a corsa exhaust, viper alarm with auto start, and a great aftermarket stereo system for a great price and traded in my Tacoma. I will say I'm so happy to have the power and smooth shifting Tundra again! It's funny I get over 20 mpg on the highway with the Tundra because it isn't working so damn hard to stay at speed. I never got that with the Tacoma. In town my mpg's went down but it's worth it for me. I wish you the best with your search.

Thank you both for your honesty. I think that is a big issue when folks come from the full sizes and realize, they really want the luxuries of the full size truck.

I loved the features that the Tacoma had with blind spot monitoring, crawl control system etc. That is why I bought the Tacoma . My Tundra doesn't have any of those features. I just hated the Tacoma's engine/ transmission combo.

I've only had my truck 3 weeks now, so I'm still in that break in period and may be biased a bit, but I love my Tacoma. I feel for those who have had problems, but I think that's any brand of just about anything these days. There's going to be lemons.

People say the same thing on STIHL forums and John Deere Forums, about the quality not being the same as it was in the 80's and 90's. (I sill bought a John Deere lawnmower, and a STIHL MS 261 CM M-tronic chainsaw. (That's one bad ass chainsaw), and have had zero issues with either, absolutely love them).

The AVS forums are the absolute worst, I got an OLED tv and I payed a lot of money for it. There's people on there, that have taken their televisions back several times. They buy a new one, and "run slides" looking for "banding" and "imperfections". It was way over the top. If you buy a Ferrari, and look closely enough at the paint with a magnifying glass, I guarantee you will find imperfections.

I'm not downplaying any of you who have multiple legit issues, that's not cool and I feel for you. That would suck. But there is a degree of nitpicking on some issues, to an extent, about certain things. Thats just my opinion though.

The upshifting and downshifting, the searching for gears, that makes me laugh. Not because it's acceptable, I can see how that annoys people. It's laughable to me, because I've drove a 2001 Dodge Dakota for the last 15 years, the transmission shifting too much on the Tacoma...yeah that don't even come close to the issues My Dakota had. Anyone who's had a Dakota like mine, and have had transmission issues, knows what I'm talking about. Feather the throttle until you get over 30mph to get in the right gear. It was like driving a "manual automatic", and shifting with your gas pedal.

Anyways, that's just some thoughts. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions on things, and while I may not agree with someone else's, I do enjoy reading them.

    I really like my truck.

I have the rear end howl which keeps me from loving my truck unfortunately.

Word is there will be a TSB for the howl and if it fixes it I will be a happy 3rd gen Tacoma owner!

You don't need a magnifying glass to see paint imperfections on a new Ferrari, they are notorious for having sheeit paint from the factory lol.
Edit: I suck at quoting I know.
Double edit: I think your point is spot on.

So far, I am quite pleased with my 2017 OR. ~7500 miles, 4 months so far. Haven't had a change to take it off road yet, but have had zero issues, concerns or complaints about it to date. I did change all the lubes at 5K miles, just to be on the safe side, but nothing else has been done other than that.
