It's fenced in, so you legally can. I don't see why they would throw a fit about it

@rpkole goes with people on occasion. When I get my truck back I'm usually willing to go for a morning.

Basically if you want to go pick a day and post up here. Then see who all wants to join. It should be easy to get a few of us to go.

This may be stupid to ask...

Is a 30 lb. increase on each corner normal for wheel/tire upgrade? My stock SR5 is right at 54 lbs. (SR5 wheel 16" - 23 lbs. / Firestone Destination LE 2 245/75- 31 lbs.) and the set up I've been considering is around 85 lbs. (SCS Ray10 17" - 24 lbs. / Cooper STT Pro 285/70 - 61 lbs.).

I've read a lot about guys trying to shave 3-5 lbs. per corner, but that seems minuscule overall.

Based on the small P rated tires you are coming from and the big LT rated tire you are considering, I'm not surprised

The math checks out, but look how much bigger of a tire you're going to. The STT Pro will also have more tread ply's making for a more durable tire. If you're worried about gas mileage, you picked the wrong vehicle. Just buy what you want and accept the consequences.

So I can expect most combinations in 255/265/285 area to be around 70-80 lbs?

Thats probably correct but I'm to lazy to actually look at weight differences. With full skids, sliders, rack and RTT always on the truck, wheel and tire weight doesnt matter to me. Just adding 265/70r17 c-rated tires I saw a small drop in MPG. With everything that small drop just keeps getting bigger and will continue to do so.

You can still get 265's in a P rated tire. I had the P-rated Hankook Dynapro ATM's in 265/75/16, but they didn't last long (20K had 7/32 left) with my driving. They also caked up pretty good with mud and it was hard to clear them. They were a little lighter though and I got about 16mpg. Once I went to the 285/75/16 Hankook MT's, I'm down to 14mpg. Yeah, it's over 10% lost, but still seems minimal to me.

If you pick an E-rated tire, likely.

I have a set of P-rated Terra Grappler G2 285/70R17 that are 45lbs vs 52lbs for the E-rated version. The 285/75R16 MT/Rs are about 59lbs. Some tire companies list tire weight on their specs but Amazon lists shipping weight which will be pretty close.

Rotational weight affects your power and mpg much more than your total weight.

I didnt know people actually worried about the weight of tires. Its not like you have much of a choice. Bigger tires = more weight. Just get what you want.
