 why what do you need it to do?

I know of guys that have put their 600+lb motorcycles in the bed and had the rear over the tailgate. Does that help?

be careful though....cause if they are like the 05/06...the tailgates are weak! toyota now has a tsb out for weak tailgates though!! hopefully the 07 model is better designed inside!!

Actually, let me clarify a little further. 07's manufactured after Feb 07 already have the reinforcement installed..only applies to models prior to Feb 07. Also, Toyota doesn't send letters to owners about TSB's.. only Recalls. I did call my local dealer yesterday and I'm having the reinforcement installed next week.

The tailgate is definitely weakest in the center. This is where the TSB reinforcement is installed. I wouldn't have a problem loading something 200+ lbs outside the center of the tailgate; however, near the middle is a different story.

If you take the truck back to the dealer for the reinforcment... Do you have to pay for it? Or will they install it for free?

Unfortunately, most dealers are only installing the reinforcement if the tailgate is actually bent and you still under the factory warranty. You would think Toyota would install the reinforcement kit as a preventative measure; however, most are finding out Toyota is only picking up the tab if the customer actually bends his/her tailgate.

Yup. The dealership will only do the TSB after your tailgate has already been damaged.

No big deal, go ahead and jump up and down on the tailgate till it breaks :)

BTW, i weigh about 210lbs and i jump up onto my tailgate from the ground when i get up into the back of the bed. So far no problems....
