No matter how good it is demand has likely peaked or is very close to it after the standard release hits. Nearly all these trucks are under warranty for the next 12-18 months. Those number of people willing to do something like this on a vehicle under warranty is pretty small relative to the number of owners. I suspect the real demand will hit after there are several years worth of Tacomas out of warranty, assuming Toyota doesn't fix it (safe bet) and all the pissed off owners who know how this truck should drive haven't dumped it...:D

Everyone here, should a new thread be started just for the 1.02 review? This is the Alpha dev thread.
Just a thought, it might help future taco lovers on the fence so they don't need to sort through all the 1.01A and 1.01B chatter.

I'm going to have to remove 1.02. Getting a lot of shuddering before shifts under load under 2k rpm.

    Edit: @OVTune has been emailed.

The tRuck is not driveable about 60 mph unless it's in S4.

That being said, I'm going back to stock or 1.01B today.

In my short trip I noticed it was still there. Do you still have the exhaust?

Hmm, after all that excitement I'm tempted to keep my 1.01 loaded until the stutter validated as a one-off or more widespread. I have zero stutters on 1.01.

Can @OVTune confirm the mods on the truck being used to do the dyno tunes?
I thought I read a few pages back that it had a TRD intake and exhaust.
Wouldn't it be better to have a completely stock truck for this?

    Yep

I'd keep 1.01. I just brought it up to 65 and it was not driveable. I had to go to S4 to keep the RPMs up. It was bad. But prior to that, I did a 0-90 run and it felt great.

But, I need to remove it ASAP.

I asked him a while back if 1.02 was good for the exhaust and he said yeah

Sounds like the worse case is you can't drive your truck for as long as it would take to overnight your ECU to OP so he can unbrick it and overnight back though, right? I know it's annoying for sure and I'd be frustrated but hopefully it's just a case of waiting it out for a few days and all will be well?

Not sure what is unstable about that. Could you point out what you are trying to show with the video? I was right in the middle of asking for a video when you posted. I have only got to 45. I'm going to go drive right now though

    See below.

I have some videos of the shuddering. It's very very bad. The whole truck shakes.

So if you're wanting to install 1.02, wait for a few more people to review it. It may be an isolated problem.

I sent matt 2 emails but it's 4:50am there. Hopefully he can send me a datalogger.

Hmmm.. maybe I should get Mat to send me 1.01b instead of 1.02 until this gets sorted out. It could be your mods causing it though, we'll have to see.

So there shuttering is while on the throttle at 2k or all the time, on and off throttle? Mine has always had a shutter that point and I even sent him some techstream logs recording it. Sounds like the 1.02 amplified it. Traffic stopped me from hitting 65 but my shutter is still there like before.

Hopefully it's not the mods. The only thing really is the exhaust. The intake shouldn't change much at all, if anything.

Say I'm in 6th doing 60 MPH, shuddering.

Anytime the engine is under large load between 1500-2000, bad bad shuddering.

The truck was in 5th doing 40ish, I have it some throttle to accelerate without down shifting and it shook like hell before dropping to 4th.

I was thinking about making a new post summarizing the entire tune (using direct quotes from @OVTune). Maybe once my issues are resolved.

    I want to cry.:(

Busy day ahead for sure, but I have no doubt he'll get it sorted out. Out of curiosity, were you able to get in the 10-15 miles OV suggested were needed to learn the throttle maps, etc.,? I sincerely doubt he meant for your truck to shake for those miles but am curious whether some level of learning may be involved in the shudders

So I was able to hit some speed finally. I have a couple preliminary pre learning observations.
    1. Improved throttle feel under half throttle, just feels even more peppy.
    2. Full throttle run sees slight improvement, which is good.
    3. Power still kicks in at 4k but 2.5-4k has noticeable gain.
    4. Shutter in 1st gear under acceleration around 2k and that's it. @dYL0n i couldn't get it to shutter any other time so I'm very curious what's going on with yours.
