I hate my front license plate! It would look so much better without it. Does anyone know if it is legal to visibly stick it behind the windshield? If so i want to stick it to the inside of the windshield using a suction cup and replace the holes in the bumper that the dealer made with a couple black screws. Oh, and I'm from California by the way. (minor detail haha)

I think it looks worse when people put it behind the windshield. Looks like they left trash or papers on their dash.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I doubt it. It clearly says "mounted".

Hmm before I got my Taco I was driving with no front plate on my car for about 6 years and never heard one word about it...live in NorCal. Got an Iron Cross decorative plate for the taco thats been on for a week now. I say ditch it. Anyone know if it would just be a fix it or a real citation… just incase?

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.
It's a law in California. Suck it up and deal with it.

We don't have them here in SC, but when I was buying my truck I walked out and a tech was about to mount one of their dealer tags on the front of my truck??? I told the salesman with me if he puts a screw in the bumper they can keep the truck, I'm not a rolling advert. for them. I also peeled their sticker off the tailgate & removed their rear plate frame & left them b4 I left the lot. They thought I was being an ass, but they wouldn't pay me for advertising for them so oh well.

Here in NV if your vehicle didnt come with holes to mount a front plate then you dont need to put them on. I like my firefighter plates though so cops dont mess with me when they see me driving towards them.:D

Yeah lots of people here in CA drive around without front plates because they think it looks cool. My ex got nailed for this twice, yes twice, on two different cars. I told her about this CA law when I noticed her missing front plate (and before her first ticket) so I just told her "yeah that sucks you got a ticket... umm... yeah." After the second ticket I just walked away when she started to tell me about it. Not because I don't care, but because she was practically begging for a second ticket so it's all hers. She finally put the front plate on but I'm sure her car looked much cooler without the front plate while she was pulled over getting tickets.

There are much better ways of making your vehicle look good without breaking the law. Just put it on and feel good knowing you are doing the right thing. If you must drive without the front plate, a good place to keep it is stacked underneath the rear plate, just don't forget it's there.

If you don't like it, take it off and keep it in the truck. You're taking a risk that you'll end up with a ticket, but maybe it's worth that to you.

Don't put it in your windshield... looks trashy.

OP: I don't know what jurisdiction your in, but where I live it's a $10.00 fix it ticket if you fail to mount the plate. I never mounted the plate on my old vehicle because I was into "looks", but I finally got tired of paying $10.00 fix it tickets so I just keep it mounted. And now I have no problems.

I've heard a lot of people on other forums be successful just saying they had a fender bender and haven't gotten a new bracket for it yet haha. Worth a try. I'm just glad I live in a state that doesn't require front plates. Although, I don't mind it much on trucks/SUVs. It's on cars that it really kills the look.
