Especially with no toll on the turnpike. I mean wouldn't you want to say I got to ride on the turnpike for free?

I just got back from a store run, the roads are packed, most gas stations are empty, the ones with gas have big lines!
This sucks, wasn't even a year since Matthew hit us, repair work still going on from that. I got my fingers crossed, and plan to take pictures inside the eye if it passes over us.
Just hoping we don't get major flooding, the maps calling for up to 18" of rain here in St. Augustine, and the tides been really high with the full moon!
Getting mom to a shelter tomorrow, I'm going to try and ride this out, hope the truck survives!

Irma pass far north of Dominican Republic, minor damage here. People living in Florida, don't attempt to feel safe in your houses, just leave, your life is more important than your material posetions.

I'd leave if we were in South Florida. Central and north won't be so bad.

Easier said than done. Most of the infrastructure and highways can't handle regular day to day traffic patterns, much less mass evacuations. I've gone that route before and ended up stuck in gridlock on the interstate while a Cat 1 rolled over us. No thanks, never again. I'll find a somewhat secure structure and ride it out.

I know the feel. Rita evac was miserable. Made all the more so because I had to roll from Houston to Galveston to get our pets and luggage. So we were at the ass end of the evacuation.

It takes about 45 minutes to get from Galveston to the place I was living at the time. That evac was a 10 hour trip to get to my apartment. But we kept rolling to Austin.

There's so many fundraisers, and charities taking donations down here it's hard to keep track of. I feel like unless I give to people directly, it may just be used for the wrong thing.

Still gathering clothes and extra furniture we have to give out to people who may need it after their rebuilds.
