This is so true. I wheel my truck pretty hard and so far skids and sliders have saved me a ton, far more than a lift and bigger tires ever would.

From experience... 275x70x17 (roughly 32") is the largest without getting a CMC, and in some cases may still need it, unless you have a perfect alignment and wheel offset.
Also on 3rd gens, lifts are typically 2" (not 3") unless you plan to use spacers or large amount of preload on your coils (neither recommended for wheeling).

285/17s with a 3" leveling lift and mud flaps... very little rubbing and only when turning in reverse or when turning and hitting a big bump. The rubbing is so minor that it's almost not worth mentioning.

4 wheel parts only sells cheap drop bracket lifts. Those kinds of lifts are total gimmicks for their price.

They are idiots. Those are in regards to 4x4. You can even get a 4" spindle lift on 2WD applications.

The 2017 is the same as the 2016 which is basically the same suspension as the 2nd generation Tacoma (excluding the fact that the 3rd gen rides 1" higher).
