“Yet every time I turn on the TV, I see (the Red Cross) taking in millions of dollars in donations,” he said, branding the charity “the most inept, unorganised organisation I’ve ever experienced”.
Might I introduce you to a little entity known as the Federal Government? :anonymous:

Red Cross is hit and miss. They got dinged for endangering the blood supply after 9/11 when they kept collecting blood after it was apparent very little blood would be needed by the survivors. You can donate every 56 days, but red cells can only be stored for 48 and have to be destroyed if not used. They created a one week window of massive shortages. They had to destroy hundreds of thousands of units.

Its easier said than done its been bumper to bumper traffic heading north for three days. Here in south fl there are building codes that the dominican republic im sure does not follow. It is at the point now it safer to bunker down than to be stranded on the highway. I have about a weeks worth of food and water.-

I've seen the Red Cross in action too many times, plus the percentage of donations that actually reach victims is one of the lowest, that I refuse to donate to them. At the moment, I'm using the Salvation Army. I'll also donate direct if I have a conduit.

Well, most people here leave in houses very poorly built, out of any regulations, leaving near water courses, but buildings and houses built here within local codes, with reinforce concrete can stand to any huracan.

Just hope you all be safe.

All true, add in the storm surge, full moon, high tide, and up to 18" of rain, flooding is a huge reality, as well as the storm damage.
Matthew took out quite a few trees, I'm sure Irma will block a lot of our roads, and do a lot of building damage.

Didn't know that about the red cross. I also donate items to the Salvation Army instead of Goodwill

I'm convinced this is how Texas kept it south, so many in texas. Florida doesn't have big ass fans.
