Well it was pretty good until half way through August. The year before the fire started much earlier. But usually we have some wet by now

@Digiratus are you still getting the new Tesla? Just read an article that some are shipping out in the next few months. I've seen a lot of Tesla's around here, especially in Lewiston. My coworker rode in one to some plant surveys and said she loved it. Apparently we have a charger or two at the motel 8 here .

I would expect them to have one or two. Loootttsss of money in that town with a quickly growing population. Grangeville surprised me. I never expected it with a median household income of 40k and the general vibe I get from the public on environmental issues.

I've been looking at hybrids/electrics more and more for a nice commuter. After crunching numbers, gas is generally my biggest expense out here. The range on one would be plenty for the areas I would use it. My work would be happy to install a charger or give me access to electricity. I would never even have to charge it at my place (won't hurt my electric bill).

Thats about the only way I see one being Financially beneficial right now. Other than maintenance costs on them would still be higher (I assume).

The lady with the tesla said it was dirt cheap to own it and even though it cost more up front, she makes up for it in maintenance/gas. They also have fantastic service. She ran out of juice once and they sent someone to charge her car for free. From what I understand, electric cars are more reliable than gas because the engines are pretty basic (Less moving parts). The big maintenance cost is the batteries but they have a crazy long warranty and generally last the life of the car (toyotas at least). I've heard plenty of bad things about them for years that I never considered it until now. I still have plenty of research but I don't think buying one would cost more than a gas car. Heck, the tax breaks alone are pretty awesome.

Hmm that is interesting. I admittedly haven't researched the new Teslas at all. I just remember that being an issue with the older hybrids and first electrics. Still don't think I could go away from a gas vehicle tho.

I am on a waiting list for the new model Tesla, the model 3. It is a smaller and less expensive sedan compared to the model S (big sedan) or model X (SUV/Crossover) your co-worker rode in.

Not yet. My brothers model S will be swapped for the corolla when I get back from the Tour.

The corolla has lived outside for a couple of years now. That side of the garage has become the workshop. Hard to say what'll happen with a model 3.

The range of a hybrid or even the nissan leaf cannot be compared to the Teslas or even the new Chevy Bolt. The Bolt and the model 3 have a 300+ mile range. I think the leaf is 60-70 miles. The Bolt and the model 3 start at $40K depending on options. Compare this to a model S ($90-100K) or a model X (+$110K)

You can't. You would be betraying your industry.

Devin has a Honda Insight. Costs 20 bucks to fill it and last over 400miles. Not fast by any means but can get 50mpg. Pretty nice really.

that said, you could find an older VW diesel and it'll get 70mpg.

TDI jettas? yes. However around 100k mark give or take 20k the pump goes out. Is a bitch to handle too. And not cheap. But other than that i was looking for a jetta TDI 5spd wagon before i bought Igor. Really nice cars.

Saw an ad for a place in Utah (8 hours from me) that would pull and replace my engine for 6k and give a 3 year warranty to go with it. Wish I found them earlier. They also have solid reviews too.

Yep, I was quoted 10k most places in Laramie. The damn 2tr-fe is pricey for a 4cyl. There's a used engine with 70k near me for $1900.

I need to pick this guys brain some. He put the 4.7l in his reg cab. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/v8-tacoma.484131/

Shit you drive to me I'd help you put it in, plus I've got all the tools. Wouldn't charge you more than food and some post swap wheeling.

If you talk to the elders they usually say the worst fire seasons are with heavy spring rains. Extra growth=Extra fuel for fires in the summer
