I thouroghly agree that the intent is to protect and encourage the natural environment and to keep people safe, but sometimes we can not account or control everything.

Not once have I implied that the person should not be held accountable, rather that I thought the size of the burn was that of a natural disaster, and thus tax payers, and insurance will end up paying for a large portion of the cost even if the individual is charge, found guilty, and fined.

 

The only thing natural about natural disasters is how they start.

That'd be like saying somebody intentionally opened up the levees outside of new orleans and flooded the city, but it isn't that bad because hurricanes do the same thing.

 

This punk caused a mega disaster. The Gorge is tinder dry like most of my state. Shutting down the I-84 is huge. It's a main artery. Tourism will likely suffer for some time as many trails I used to hike are now toast. The shutting down of a main truck route, fire fighting costs, tourism loss, structure damage, Etc. The final tab will be in the multi-millions of dollars. A woman allegedly witnessed teens laughing at what they had done. This fool wasn't alone. I just cant stand this kind of punkass idiocy. I agree with Cuffs, they should pay dearly.
