If your truck is doing this even slightly i suggest you document it the best you can. mine only did it sporadically, both the speedometer and tac when i had lower miles . now i am out of warranty and the speedo almost constantly ticks on deceleration from 90 down to 70 mph. tach is random.

Mine was replaced, took almost 2 weeks to get the part.I had to leave the truck all that time and they gave me a car to use.The service manager got the factory rep involved which help speed up the process. It's been fine since the other day when it was warm the tack acted up again. It seems to only do this when the temperature outside is warm 80 degrees plus.

    Too few to list.
Have this issue as well. I brought it in to the dealership the day it was showing to idle at 3K rpm to just have them document it in the system for when I can bring it in. Happened again yesterday, this time it was showing idle at 0. I just video it whenever it does it.

Also both days above 90 degrees.

Both my tach and speedometer do this periodically. Seems to be more of an issue with the SR's than other trim levels. I video it every time it does it bad so I can show service manager when I take it in.

Took my truck in a couple of times with this issue. First I brought it in with a video of it sticking pretty bad on my hone, and after a test drive they said they didn't notice anything abnormal. I took it in another time with some nice go pro video of it doing it during my daily drive. They opened a case with Toyota but they shut it down saying they needed data with a computer hooked up to do something, but the dealer refuses to take the truck. Mine consistently "tic-tocks" at around 60mph and up when accelerating or slowing down slowly 1-2 mph a sec.

Yep that's the bitch of it. If you can't replicate for them in person, they can pretty much tell you to pound sand. This is how Toyota is treating their customers in some cases. Nearly impossible to replicate this problem consistently.

Me too. Same story. This after my cluster was already removed for trips setting. Was told I already had it replaced and they weren't doing it again. Thanks Toyota.

Mine only replaced because I'm friendly with the service manager.

Seems with video evidence that it would be hard to deny the issue, I hope that guy tries a different dealer so they will replace it.

Makes no sense. I can understand leaving it while they replace the part to change the miles but not while waiting for the part to come in????? o_O

They have to order the part with the miles on it ...my understanding is the dealer can't change the odometer. It has to come that way

Little tree air fresheners. Clazzio black leather seat covers.
This has been an issue since I got my truck! Only happens on rather warm days. Other then that it doesn't happen. Like @smitty99 said the dealer wont do anything unless THEY can replicate. I took a few videos of my truck doing it and showed the dealer and they said unless they can drive my truck and replicate it they aren't going to fix it. And of course my truck made me look like a liar! Good luck with it!

My truck was doing this too but more with my speedo. Ticked down like a broken clock. Sometimes would would return to 5,20,30 ,40 mph when stopping. I would be driving and my speedo would show I was at 110 mph (thats a fast 4cy). Took a couple videos and brought into dealer with 1900 miles on truck. Dealer treated me very good. They ordered the part and gave me a rental. It took almost 3 weeks for the part, so my truck stayed at the dealer and I drove the piss out of a Nissan frontier from enterprise (2K plus miles used it for work trips etc..might as well put miles on the rental right). Seems to work well now. I live in Northern Ca where it gets hot as hell as all summer so heat is normal 3-4 month out of the year. No other problems on the SR so far.....I will say I was ready to get out of the Nissan and back into my Tacoma..

This is true, they have to program the miles and ship the part with the "real" miles to the dealer for the install.

That's what they did with mine. They gave me a loaner for two weeks while they had the truck.
