Gonna be adjusting the PC coilovers tomorrow or the next day. Anyone have any tips? I am planning on having the COs installed on the truck and the truck in the air. I tried this afternoon for about 5 minutes and it was hard AF. I expect it to be hard since the preload is already where it is. Just looking for any tips to possibly make it easier.

Jack up the front so there is no weight on the front tires at full droop. Hopefully you have a spanner wrench for the collar and make sure if there is a set screw on the collar that it is loosened up or you will F.U. the threads as you try to loosen it. Here's a pic of mine to show the allen screw on the collar. IMG_0896.jpg

Ok, I went and adjusted these bad boys. Well, one of them. I found it extremely difficult. Put the truck on jack stands. I took me almost an hr to get the driver side where I want it. I ended up taking the upper ball joint loose from the spindle. That made it so I could turn it more each time. I also had to slip a breaker bar over the CO tool. There's no screw on the lock nut. I'm just assuming the spring rate on these COs it extremely high. It was a pain. Hell, I even put some ratchet straps on the spring and cranked them down to loosen the tension on the spring. I kept bending the tool I had and having to straighten it out.

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
It should not be that hard to adjust those. It would suggest that something is wrong with them ie, threads are messed up, rusted components, or another unknow issue.

You're 100% correct. They're not rusted but what I am going to assume is that the previous owner had either had them covered in mud or submerged at some point. I sprayed them with some wd40 and let it soak in and it cleared them up and was able to do them without a lot of hassle

I would think so too just not sure if it would give "too much lift" in the rear (if there is such a thing) with a custom l full 6" leaf pack

I'm still running blocks in the rear with the factory springs

Allpro expos with the ATO shackle flip and their 6" shackle. Rides level and way smoother than before.

How much lift do the 63 inch GM springs give? I know in the GM solid axle world you can get roughly 4" by using 52" GM rears up front (on GM trucks). I have some 56" rears I thought about trying. I even have 63's but they're on the back of my Z71 lol.

On my taco I went with AP expos and a 1 inch block in back. It sits roughly the same as the factory rake, and the ride is good. Much better than the blocks and factory springs. The expos didn't come in time and so I used the blocks until they got here. U bolts were plenty long, in fact I need to trim them up a little. They flex very well too. I was pleasantly surprised for their 500lb constant load rating.

Not really sure what you'd get out of them but I know there's guys who have them. Maybe you need to put them on the truck since you have them.

I can't use the 63's since they're in use, but I seriously thought about the 56's. But, I wasn't sure on lift gain, and ride stiffness since they're meant to hold up a fullsize truck and load, and even on GM trucks they can ride stiff. Then AP had free shipping and I knew what to expect from them more or less, based on what others have posted. The expos flex plenty good for my needs. In fact I'm going to have to upgrade my bump stops, since I can stuff them far enough to rub the flares.

The 63's give about 3-4", depending on load and if you leave the overload spring in. The 63's require full custom mounting and a shackle flip. But you could run aftermarket lift springs or AAL for the GM springs. Many options to choose.

Yeah, I knew I could remove leafs as well if it ended up giving more lift, or was too stiff, but being my DD I just didn't have the time to experiment like I would on a trail rig. Driving one f my other trucks wasn't an option at the time, as my daughter drives my z71, and I had my K5 down for some maintenance. Poor timing I guess. At my disposal, I currently have some 48" 6 linch front lift springs, and the stock 56" rears, all GM. Hell, I even have a GM dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear both with detroit lockers and 4.88's.. if I just wanted to get super crazy .. lol.

I was running AP standards before the 63's ,they flex and rode great. But no way enough lift for 6" setup. I'm curious if a custom Alcan spring would flex that well being more arch to lift it 5"+?

Yeah, that's the question I reckon. There was a shop here in town back in the 80's we used to go to and they would build you custom leaf packs for pretty cheap. They charged by the leaf. The lady at the counter was always asked for a price and then someone would ask her, how about if I wanted this much lift. Her reply was we just charge by the leaf, we can arch them as much as you want, you're the one who has to get them into the mounts. ha ha. I think things have gotten so much better since those days that they could do it, and probably still give you some good flex, as long as they know they're for a tacoma etc. But, I'm only guessing.
