Is it just me or do the gen 3 double cab rear doors sound like tin when they are closed? The front sounds spild when closed but not the rear. Is there any easy way to insulate the rear doors?

I am sure some Sound Deadening Material will help, when I swap out the Speakers I plan on using some in the doors.

They are very thin. They sound super hollow when closing. Sound dampen them.

Was the 2nd gen more solid? Good news is the 3rd gen just beat the competition in the iihs crash tests

I have noticed this on a number of vehicles. The front doors are weighty and close with a nice thunk, and the rear doors feel very tinny and close as such. Most people only open the rear doors once or twice when they are looking to buy a vehicle, so they likely don't notice. The fronts get opened a number of times though.

My complaint is paying almost 40k for a midsize truck and it being built with corolla quality. $20 more insulation and it makes a solid noise when closed.

Wouldn't door panels absorb and deflect some energy from a collision? Obviously they are not what saves you but I'd assume they aid the pillars and door structure?

Hey corollas last a long ass time. I first noticed it on a base model forester, and they get some of the best crash safety ratings out there so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

I'm not concerned, like I posted the Tacoma beat all competition in iihs crash test recently. Just annoys me a little they couldn't spare just a little more insulation

I'm just used to it now, I guess. Do like the gas mileage, and I'm making up for the weight Toyota engineers saved elsewhere, e.g., a heavy MX ARE shell, Prinsu rack, etc.

No I never had a corolla. I was just using it for a comparison bc it's an entry level car that should have hollow doors.

My buddy @Thunder Fist might beg to differ, he was fine after this hit

The more impact the car takes the less you take, saved his life
