Today, I met up with Grumpy (XRU buddy) at his house and had a mod day. This was our mod list for the day:

    1. Relocate horns
    2. Paint behind grill
    3. Install OEM oil cooler
    4. Install oil catch can
    5. Fix minor annoyances
    a. battery tie down,
    b. relocate stereo fuse
    c. paint pink fan adapter plate
    6. Install RGM grill

First up was to relocate the horns. Grumpy had a good location which was to install them down on the radiator support.

    IMG_2053_b834f062470457d09c0b60936a7332d7b0b4c549.jpg

Then, we masked and painted the radiator area

    IMG_2056_a17eb424196064763ffd3c6a74fe80b939f2a617.jpg

Here is a good shot of the stock part with the oem oil cooler version. Grumpy and I realized that someone could take their stock unit and drill out the 2 holes and press in 2 new sleeves. Then you would just need to buy the sandwich plate kit.

    IMG_2060_3d2d00a2498226b06529268297051bcfae495a56.jpg

Here it is installed. We didn't run into any issues. Just make sure you have the 30mm socket and 12mm allen wrench. Finding these parts can be a little tough.

Next, we tackled the oil catch can. This is the best location we found. It's temporary for now. I would like to fab up a bracket and install the catch can closer to the engine. This works for now and it does clear the hood Redline struts. I also need to get new hose clamps.

    IMG_2079_48c53890f087ee8cefd7bb18b638f42a001bdaad.jpg

Then, we took care of the other little issues I had:

    Battery tie down Before:

Had to use a spacer to secure the battery down.
    IMG_0450_62e8a46a39b80ea008d46bc594207d0820c2ee20.jpg

    Battery tie down After:

Here Grumpy added more thread to the rod on the left and also added a spare rod on the right to secure the battery in place:
    IMG_2067_49557676ce16dde79e38227b925b8e6295c3dcd7.jpg

We relocated the stereo fuse next to the fuse box

    IMG_2081_c672974257866b25844755236faeb2a7363f039f.jpg

We also painted the ugly pink fan adapter black since we had the fan out when installing the oil cooler:

Finally, here are some shots of the RGM grill that Grumpy did for me. He does awesome work! I need to decide on what emblem I want to add.

I want to thank Grumpy for all his help.

I even got a special treat by being a passenger in his X. We took some good twisty roads after our lunch break. Great rush for sure man. Makes me want to lower my truck for increased handling and cornering maneuvers.

    Pic of his sick truck:

Your the only person besides me that I have seen put the sensor back on the rad support. You know what the senor is for? Also I like that grill never seen one like that. Have you used your horn yet, mine are in the same spot and sound weak now.

That sensor is to read ambient temperature that connects back to the overhead temp/compass console. You know I haven't tried my horns yet. I will do that tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me.

The grill is a pretty common mod called the Satoshi mod or RGM (recessed grill mod). It's takes tons of time to make though.

Grill looks great. Sorry for my ignorance, but what's the catch can for?

EDIT- Never mind, I googled it.

I got lucky and found someone selling theirs because they were selling their truck. The parts are expensive if new like $600+. Just keep looking or post up in the for sale section that u are looking for one.

Ummm.... For the cool factor maybe. haha.

It's primarily to lower the oil temp which helps prolong your engine. It's a good idea to have it when adding more power like from a supercharger.

Ray, you crack me up. Thanks guys. Any emblem ideas?
