So trying to decide on how wide of a front axle i want to get. 64"? 66"? What do you guys run and do you like it? Looking for something wider than what I have to make it more stable and keep the body off of rocks.

@malburg114 Fj80 front is 63" and some change, and passenger side output as well. Ruff stuff 80 series knuckles are a little pricey but the quality is tops and really the only option for high steer. Other route would be a diamond whatever width you want and a 9.5 center and you could reuse your outers. If you dont want to keep it all yota im sure all the dana guys will tell you to throw 60 under there.

Staying mini truck so I can just swap everything over. So either a diamond, ruffstuff or possibly a rock assualt. Probably a diamond or a ruffstuff so I can have it ready to pretty much bolt in. Just trying to figure out how much one would be. (64-66 wms, spring perches 31.5, castor set, etc.)

But then the rock assualt are appealing for the price and seen them take some abuse.

FJ60/62 if you are trying to stay mini truck. It'll get you an extra 3.5" of width I believe. Around 62 wms with ifs hubs

You would have to cut and flip an FJ60 housing but you are capable of it no problem. @slander did it so that means that anybody can do it :luvya:

Already passenger drop so toyota axles will work. Aren't the 60/62 axles 9.5 diffs? I've been watching for them to pop up near me and never do.

Oh yeah I forgot about that on your truck.

Yes they are. Car-part.com is your friend, 60/62's have rusted apart up here so you can find them for cheap. Shipping via Fastenal is reasonable too

Sounds good. Thanks for the help.

On another note. Any reason I shouldn't run 2" spacers on the trail mainly rig with the ifs hubs?

Edit: would be to just get me by for the time being.

I run 1.5's on my 63.5 wms front with no issues. They have been on for 3 years and a fair number of miles from when it was a DD

    Malburg,
I'm @ 62" wms with my driver side drop Diamond. The SCS wheels have a 3.5" BS. Those numbers give me a total of 64" overall. The tires do stick out a bit but not too bad.

The for sale forum on ih8mud is your friend.

    $100 bare housing +3rd in socal: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1984-lc-front-axle-housing.998086/

If you haven't already join and post up in your regional clubhouse what you are looking for. Old Cruiser people are weird and they tend to have a mini junkyard at their house of old shit. I posted up in ours I was thinking about swapping cruiser axles into the Willy's I had at the time, and a month later I was driving home with a pair of 60 axles, and a full set of leaf springs for $150 from a local board lurker.

I've seriously contemplated a gooseneck with a slide in down the road. Nice alternative!

Stuff happened in the garage today here. Should be installing my new 9.5" 5.29 third with a Spartan and rear axle this week.

Make sure you grind that drain plug off and use some bolts on the bottom two stud holes.

Alright, looking to order a diamond or ruffstuff axle this week. Probably a diamond since Brian can do everything I'll need. Question I have though is what does everyone recommend the castor and pinion angle be? Mainly want the pinion pointed up out of the rocks but a better caster would be beneficial. Talked to diamond axle today about it but wanted some other input as well.

Plan for the axle is 67" wms-wms with ifs hubs. Passenger drop 8 in 3rd. Perches at 31.5 with their knuckle ball gussets and new rcv inner shafts. I'll move my 1.5 or 1.25 spacers to the rear so it'll be 63-64" wide. 37s. 4.5 in bs -12 offset wheels

    What do you guys think.

Order (2). Literally the same numbers I intend to use.

    Caster is 6*.

Pinion angle will be unique to each application. Example my LP 8" with single case is at 22.5* up from true flat 0*.
Where as the HP 8" will be dropped back down more to keep the CV driveshaft at decent angles.
