Just put the unit in my 2017 DCLB Off Road. Watched the video on KB Voodoo's website about 20 times and followed their instructions. The install is pretty straight forward and works like charm. I called KBV 2 for clarification, which in retrospect, probably didn't need.

If you are intimidated about putting it in yourself don't be. Pretty straight forward, particularly after watching the video.

    Thanks KBV!

This kit would annoy the ever loving shit out of me. Remote Start.. open door, have to start again.

What ever happened to remote start, open door, put foot on brake and it dies? Maybe there's a complicating factor here I'm not seeing with the push button start, but it seems a single press of the push to start button with the fob in vehicle would be the better way to go.

Used mine for almost a year. I wouldn't say it's that annoying although I wish it was like my ford. It would stay running but you couldn't engage anything unless the fob was inside and you push the start button. It serves its purpose tho, which is to warm the truck up

Nothing we can do about the restarting. It's a Toyota thing.

The only people who complain about it are people who don't have our starter.

In practice, it's not an issue at all. Point out your finger, press the button, go.

It's a safety feature built into the Toyota computer... nobody can change it regardless of remote start brand or installer.

Like KB said, the only ones who complain are the ones who don't have the auto start. I used it all winter and look forward to using it again this year.

The purpose of the remote start is not to freeze your cherries off on a nice -20 degree day. Call me a wimp, but if technology exists to avoid picking up my berries every January to March I am all for it.

This isn't true. My Ford accomplished this just fine. Get in, wake up car, air/engine never turns off. Open and close the door all you want. I'll admit that's an OE solution and yours isn't, but don't make a careless statement about POTENTIAL customers thinking you know all of their experiences. Those of us that have seen a slicker integration see yours for what it is: a partial solution. If Toyota handcuffs your tech then fine, that sucks, but shaming people that don't want to pay for an inferior solution isn't too smart.

I wasn't aware Ford bought Toyota or vise versa. Oh , they didn't? So how is it relevant what your Ford has with regard to Tacoma remote starting systems. My wife's Honda has push button starting and her factory installed remote starter also turns off the car when the door is opened. But then again, Honda doesn't own Toyota so who cares.

Sooooo - you realize you are on a Tacoma board right? Just checkin'

I called Toyota and shockingly they didn't change the design of their vehicles at my request. So, rather than tilt and windmills, I decided just to go with what was out on the market already. Crazy as that may sound.

Here is an idea - if you don't want remote start (wait for it . . .) don't buy it. Free choice - what a concept.

This bullshit just lost you a sale. I had almost reconsidered my position with your previous response, until you dismissed a point very well based in reality. I've had other solutions that worked as he had described as well. Yours IS a half step (in your particular case, with full ass shown) solution.

What about us guys without push button start? Is there a plug n play(ish) option or just the old viper remote start? I've looked around and all I've seen say push button start only.

Sorry I bought this long time ago and decided to install this now. I can’t find the video. Is there an alternate to tapping the black power wire ? Or how did you guys tap the big black thick wire ?
