I was doing my brakes today and noticed a small dent in... well im not sure what this is called, or if i would be able to fix it. Any hell is appreciated.

On a side note, my caliper was pretty rusted and nasty, it seems to be rubbing against the new rotor... im assuming that is not normal. To change the caliper can i just take off the old one, put on the new one and then put the brake line to the new caliper? Thanks!

It's the cap to cover the hub. The dent is normal-ish.. when you need to replace a cv or take that cap off for any reason you basically have to have that to pry it off. I wouldn't worry about it.

As far as the brakes - if you installed new pads and the PADS are rubbing on the rotor, it's normal. But if the caliper is rubbing the rotor - no that's not normal.

    what @Large said.

when you replaced the rotor did you remove the "scale" buildup on the caliper? with that rust there is going to be some extra garbage where the rotor spins

I gave it a good scraping with a chisel and hit it with a wire brush, but for me to really get it good i would have to remove the caliper, but then i run the risk of scraping up those boots on the pistons. To me it looked like it was beyond repair. It was so swollen and rusted i almost couldnt get the cAliper back onto the rotor. but im just a DIYer so idk maybe it could be saved... but if im going to take it off and try to clean it i kinda just want to replace it. I think i saw 2 calipers for under 200$ so it might be worth it

If the caliper looks like that, how does the frame look like ?

The frame was actually replaced under the recall so its in good shape. But yeah everytime i do any job on this truck i use about a can of PB Blaster because most things are really rusted. I live in CT so we get a mix of salty ocean air and salty snow roads
