Finally got my shit together 6 months after getting my canopy, sleeping platform is done! All in one day, and less than $110 Canadian in materials.

Hinged the center in 2 places to allow normal storage of my big bin of stuff and to make climbing in a bit easier. As well for removing middle platform to allow for moving things that are full height.

I'm really torn between a camper shell or not. I want the versatility of a bedrock and the security of a shell

I like the extra headroom my Leer 180 gives me!

Looks like you used shorter pedistals on the rear part of the rack- what type is that?

They are a little shorter. The back feet are the Thule 460R Podium feet that came with the track system that was installed on the cap. The front feet kit are 480R Rapid Traverse feet with fit kit 1827. They still don't level the load out, but the kayaks mount just fine with them at different heights.

Can I ask on average what folks are paying for an ARE CX or V series? Trying to decide which one to go with...

I would be looking at similar options but without the roof rack (i'd just get the tracks and add my own rack later). Definitely much more than I was hoping to spend. I wish there was more of a used market for the 3rd gens.

The V is cheaper than the CX.

Cap was huge bonus when I found the truck a few months ago (along with a locking tailgate) although with a motorcycle it was a pain taking the cap off, I picked up the versa-haul dirt bike carrier and fixed that D7EC69C7-8207-4642-86C1-6E6EC7F7E830.jpg

Can't handle not having a canopy - not particularly useful when the back ends up full of snow..

Just ordered one for the new truck this morning, went with another local brand - Range Rider, model is the Cruiser, made here in BC.
Again went with the pretty standard options; tinted windows, 70/30, screens, front slider.
    ..

Had an Arrow Mark1 on the old truck; loved it but went with another brand for a change.

thanks! I'd be looking at about $2k based on that since I won't be getting the Yakima set up or bed rug install.

After getting prices on the ARE CX HD- original intentions of going with the HD version was for the weight capacity-550lbs- which was a plus for a RTT, however for $2950+ I was quoted, the Leer 100xr is much more in my price range. One quote I got was from a dealer in Delaware which is who I'll probably go with since they don't have sales tax. Sales tax on a $1500 cap in NJ=$105. $1500 cap becomes $1605. Cap in DE: $1500.

What's in your track at the front of the cab? Do you have the cap clamped there as well? Mine only has the 4 clamps (2 on each side).
Also, how is it you still have your sliding tie-downs in the tracks on the side? When my Leer cap was installed they took those out and when I tried to re-install, the screw knobs are too big and you can't tighten them because they rub against the canopy base.

How much did you pay for this? I have the same setup. I like thew way the curve on the window matches the rear window curve on the truck.

I figured it was something like that. The wife is a fan of the large macaws. Thankfully we are bird free right now. Loved the Blue & Gold we homed for awhile though. Super sweet birds.
